This board normally has half of its posts dedicated to WRs.

stop it.

I get it, its the flashy/glamorous position. But WRs don't win you titles. Super hyped WRs don't always live up to the hype either (see S. Coley, Aldarius Johnson, Deonte Thompson, Sam Bruce, etc) while the ones under the radar often surpass their expectations (Hurns, Dorsett, Benjamin, TY).

Jerry Jeudy, while talented, still needs someone to throw him the ball (which he now doesn't have since affirming his bammer commitment).

QBs often make their WRs great...not the other way around and we have Handsome Cade Weldon, Nkosi Perry, and of course Jack Allison.

Furthermore QBs can't throw the ball unless they have time and protection provided by a savage OL which is coming along nicely for this 2017 class.

Championships are won at the line of scrimmage. that's the way its always been and always will be.

We have a monstrous DL coming in and a solid OL being assembled for the future, so Jeudy and all these other overhyped WRs can kick rocks....someone like Harley, or any other WR that can catch and run will put up better numbers because he will have a better QB throwing him the ball.

stop it.

Richards is the truth, Cager and mullins are talented. All three were offered scholarships by bama and chose miami. *** juedy, *** ridley, *** cooper.

Only reason some will downplay the importance of WRs is because we've struck out on every single premier target at the position in this year's cycle. Our woeful offense was the reason for our disastrous October stretch and now we're not restocking the cupboards with difference making talent to fill the voids left by Njoku/Coley.

Richards is going to be doubled constantly with no other established weapons to take pressure/attention away from him. If he goes down? We're beyond f*****. This is a massive problem.

Everyone knew we needed an elite O-line haul (if we add Slaton and Herbert then that meets the criteria) to go along with Donaldson this cycle. But to win titles, you need elite players at every position and we're dangerously thin at receiver which is why you see so much attention to that area. This cycle we're getting plan B kids, it's that simple. I don't trust the staff's "confidence" on landing Devonta Smith as that seems to be the general consensus that he's staying in SEC land.

But I don't agree with the fact we don't need elite receivers. It depends on the attitude of said receiver. They could be highly talented with poor work ethic and turn out like Aldarius Johnson, or they could work their *** off and make it to the next level like Hurns. Also, I don't know why we're putting Coley in that bust category as outside of a bad Sophmore year, he's been pretty **** solid while at Miami.

You must be new to the U. We had some great WR's and Dorsey didn't make them!!!

Yeah, LOVE Jeudy & wanted him b/c getting such a high profile recruit to flip from Bama to Miami would be good for recruiting & good for S. Florida. That said, it is a Line-of-scrimage game. We need to dominate in DL & OL recruiting and we'll be fine.

Wr and dbs that been going to fsu and bama have been made a priority. They beasts bruh cutt it out we used to send savages when we beagout teams for our own fkin recruits. Richt is failing right now with elite sfla wrs. We need to stack man no excuses no bs excuses....if jeudy gets replaced with a cager or harris type then its a weakness.

All good, but a sure sign we just lost a WR.

Recruiting is binary, and right now WR position ain't a 1.

I've always downplayed the importance of WR...not just this season.

Our October struggles was due to WR? or was it a porous OL and regressive QB? and we had 5 star receivers on the field also....so I guess WR isn't the end all be all afterall.

Getting Harley is more than sufficient after missing on Jeudy. He is fast and will get open. Pair him with Mullins and there's your gamebreaking speed. Then you have your #1 guy in AR and depth guys like Cager and Berrios.

The main point is,

Jeudy won't be the difference between an 11 win season/ACC title and another 8-4 year. Its QB play and quality depth at all other positions especially OL/DL/DBs.

I think for me it's not the "obsession" over WRs more so then keeping the skilled players home
Especially the ones who have such influence

Programs are always in search of game changers

Miami could use some more skilled players at key positions and with our depth low we don't need to count on walk one

When you have
Cooper
Rudely then his brother
And now Jeudy

You want to stop the bleeding and keep ballers like this home

It also is about winning recruiting wars

You need to see a bigger oicture

Same obsession people have with 40 times. You cannot win with garbage receivers but it's one of the least important positions compared to OL, DL, QB, and LB's, in no particular order.

The things we all come up with when we don't get what we want. It's like having an opportunity to get Jerry Rice; miss on him and then say we wouldn't win games with him. There is nothing like a game changer they cover so many weaknesses. I don't fall in love with recruits but you can't deny this kids talent. Dude in my opinion is the #1 recruit out their, straight baller!!!

Well at some point you have to have enough receivers on the rosters to function properly.
Enough receivers to practice properly.
Enough receivers to have actual competition at the position.
Enough receivers to survive injuries.
I don't think we have enough and it doesn't look like will sign enough.
Last thing let's not count on Harley until he signs.....he may flip but he hasn't yet.
We have Njoku and that's it...as of right now.

Valid speaking the truth though, while we certainly need to add more talent at receiver the elite oline and dline play is what Miami have been missing in most years especially during the golden years. The oline was actually good when golden was here but that's because stoutland recruited NFL guys at the position. We still need to stack chips at receiver though
