The O deserves the hits it’s taking, but why did the D suck so hard?

Terrible performance. Im
Appalled
I think I was in shock yesterday. Almost like it didn’t register how dreadful this really was.

I honestly don’t know where we go from here as a program.

We are in our death throes as a program and a brand. We shoot for the moon and pay too dollar for new AD, HC, OC, DC, Highsmith etc. and still lose to Middle Tennessee State.

Sucks so bad, I was a huge supporter of Mario getting the job. And I know we are stuck with Mario for at least a half a decade. But I also know he is not going to get it done, same as when Manny lost to FIU. That doesn’t happen by accident, it happens by incompetence. There is no coming back from this IMO.

Everyone sucked but our 5* guys like JW0 getting run the **** over repeatedly yesterday and LT56 doing **** on shinola on top of all the injuries … Rough day all around for coaches, players, fans.

The secondary is awfulllllllllll outside of Kitchens. They don’t communicate and are easily fooled. They aren’t a complete unit just a bunch of individuals. It’s like the CBs are getting coached one way and the Safeties are getting taught something different.

The LBs aren’t consistent and the guys behind them aren’t physically ready yet I guess
Also doesn’t take a genius to know when you see #8 in man coverage with no help, you run a 9 and score 98 yard TDs.
This whole team is dog ****. Besides Kam Kitchens there is not a single football player on this roster. Not one.
James Williams is over rated.
LT56 is same player as Nesta.
How can this team have no playmakers? It’s mind boggling.

Terrible coaching by Steele. We couldn't come back because we couldn't stop fkn mtsu from scoring. Think about that for a second. We got out coached, schemed, and played by mtsu!!??!!

We made it too easy for them. All they had to do was just throw a deep ball and we left our corners on an island.

Im not saying flagg is good or should be getting as many snaps as he does but the way everybody seems to gloss over other bad players and pinpoint him is stupid

Kam wasn’t getting deep enough on pass plays.

First touchdown looked like Stevenson busted on a cover 3. Neither him or Couch picked up the deep route and based on the other side it should have been Ty. Kam could have prevented the touchdown if he got deep though.

On the 90 yard pass, receiver jukes Flagg, Flagg takes out Keontra and everyone else was out of position. Kam got sucked into traffic. He probably stops that one sooner if he played further back.

19 (Harris?) got torched. But Kam came up to play a short route that was already covered. If he is deep, he has a chance for pbu or tackle.

Ivy gets burned not jamming. He looked excellent playing physical last week. When will we learn? If he isn’t jamming, he shouldn’t be on the field. Kam again was too shallow and got outran.

Every single deep pass occurred because Kam was playing too shallow. If he is coached to do that, Steele needs to adjust. We aren’t fast enough to play with no deep safety. If he isn’t coached to do that, he had an awful game.

Aside from the secondary, the other major fail was Flagg. If yesterday's game doesn't bench him don't know what else to do. Johnson, Wesley, Gil, and Chase need dramatic increase in reps to improve the overall athleticism on D. In the secondary all we can really do is mix more personnel groupings to hopefully reduce 8's reps but the back end won't be markedly better until we improve the talent via recruiting/portal. We're gonna struggle against good passing attacks.

tackling at the linebacker level, with Keontra Smith at 41.9 percent tackle grade and Caleb Johnson at 20.1 percent (Corey Flagg graded out at 66.4 percent).

I want to know where Chase Smith is. Play him, Caleb Johnson, and Wesley. Stick Flagg and Steed on the bench for good. Keontra Smith sucks too but he isn’t on Flagg and Steed’s level.

Ok. But did keontra & johnson consistently fill the wrong gap and lose containment on those qb scrambles om 3rd down like Flagg ? Not saying those other guts are stars but CF has a lot of bad film at this point.

Flagg doesn’t even get himself in a position to make a tackle. He either runs himself out of the play or takes a brutal angle and is too slow to even attempt to tackle a guy.

Lack of speed on D was on full display yesterday. Combine that with general lack of top end talent at some very important positions and we see what just happened. If they insist on having Ivey on the field he literally needs help on every single play.

We added Curly and Moe to rush off the edge. Meanwhile the Semenholes got Jared Verse.

Over confidence on Ivey due to last game. Thought he could play man. He can't. Williams is still a work in progress. We keep him out there for some reason. I really don't think we have anyone on our front 7 who is a bad ***.

Has been the story of his career. Get burned by Georgia Tech in 2019, show a week later with two picks at Pittsburgh.

Had a good outing against Texas A&M; no shows Middle Tennessee.

Has the talent when he wants to show up, which isn't often enough—which is bench-worthy at this rate.

And yet we were told that we had the second coming of Phillips and Bosa.

Whatever off-season Sunshine Pumping we endured is all but dead for the considerable future.

Only an idiot would believe that. Noone on roster had double digits sacks in their career. You could see the L a mile away.

Crazy to think that Middle Tennessee State has more team speed than Miami.
The only slow person in the secondary is Ivey. Stevenson was blazing chasing the first touchdown and running down the 90 yarder.

Number 19 I don’t know, but he is young. When you play unfocused and uninspired, it looks slow.
