The Nike Opening Finals

Bandy was there last summer and improved his 40 to 4.51 from the 4.68 at the Miami Regional as they work with the players there that week on running techniques. All of his measurables were improved.

It's suppose to start June 30th. Last year we had 1 commit CJ Henderson at opening, who ended up UF. We ended up signing 3 Nike Opening players Jeff Thomas(uncommitted), Bandy(OU) and Hebert(Mich).

WR Brian Hightower
WR Mark Pope
DB Josh Jobe
RB Cam'Ron Davis

Reminds of 2011 when we had these commits going in:
Duke Johnson (Miami)
Keith Brown (UL)
Raphael Kirby (Miami)
A.J. Leggett (Marshall)
Angelo Jean-Louis (Marshall)
Dwayne Hoilett (Miami)

And these targets who were high on us:
Deon Bush (Miami)
Herbert Waters (Miami)
James Burgess (UL)
Tracy Howard (Miami)
Lucas Thompson (ECU)

^ that list is actually depressing to compare to...

Just saying the same amount of buzz at the time about Miami recruits at the opening... Other than Duke, none of those guys really lived up to the hype in college.

Lucas never made to ECU, AJL didn't make it into Miami and eventually went to Marshall before "parting ways".
Brown and Burgess both decommitted from the U and ended up at UL. Burgess had the best career of all the linebackers ranked ahead him on that list. Not saying much considering he is the only one in the NFL on a practice squad.
Hoilett never did anything while at the U.
Bush, Tracy, Herb, Kirby all had average careers at the U. Bush, Tracy, and Herb are all now playing in the NFL along with Duke. It would have been interesting to see how these guys would have developed under another staff.

Dwayne Hoilett was invited to the opening?

I heard dj Ivey was taller faster tougher and smoother than jobes. Wonder why he didn't get invited.

Jobe runs a verified 4.57 at the opening which is pretty fast. Jobe listed at 6'0 180 but looks much bigger than that imo

Keith Brown is about to be drafted in this year's draft. Graduated from wku..who had him and Forrest lamp as former um committs

Not so depressing to me. Most of those kids had serious talent, and even Burgess was serviceable. Not every kid with talent is going to be a model student or citizen, and Richt is known for taking flyers (half work out like Haskins and Mullins, half don't like Bruce and Ced Wright). Maybe one or both of Louis and Leggett would have accomplished something if Richt were HC at Miami instead of Golden, who had zero control over his commits & players.

4 Met Expectations and are in pros
Deon Bush (Miami)
Herbert Waters (Miami)
Duke Johnson (Miami)
Tracy Howard (Miami)

3 missed expectations due to off-field issue, not lack of talent
Lucas Thompson (ECU)
A.J. Leggett (Marshall)
Angelo Jean-Louis (Marshall)

Only 2 missed expectations due to lack of talent:
Dwayne Hoilett (Miami)
James Burgess (UL)

The other 2 are TBD, but I think both end up in the Pros:
Keith Brown (UL)
Raphael Kirby (Miami)
