The New Miami Rant

UNC was starting a guy in his second game. Go read Barry Jackson’s summary of Central Michigan’s defensive line. Forget about dominating. I want us to look half competent against teams that we have more talent than.

You are absolutely right that we are young in key spots like the OL and QB. Why are we not simplifying the offense with quick passes to our play makers? Why are we calling play action passes from under center with a 5-7 step drop on third down? How many times do we need to pull Donaldson and give up a sack when he can’t get there on time before we accept the fact that he is not physically capable of doing so. Truthfully, we probably do have receivers running free on a lot of plays, but if our OL can’t hold blocks for long enough then what good is it? Same issues that we used to have with Ono on defense but now the stubborn jackalope is the OC. We will see how he adjusts vs VT.

On defense, we have slow linebackers... why are you stunting DEs every single play and giving up the edge when Shaq can’t get outside quick enough. Same slow developing blitzes that you can see from a mile away and turn into easy pitch and catch.

Spare me with better teams lost to worse or Saban losing to ULM. 13 penalties in week 4 has nothing to do with anything besides **** poor discipline and coaching.

All valid points. This is a very inexperienced team. They will get up for competition games like Florida for example this is going to be a rollercoaster for at least two. Years depth and experience will solve these problems really fast until then all any of is can do is support the guys and move forward. At least we know we have a bad *** qb who can make all the throws but just needs the oline to protect better and that will come with experience, weight room and time

Don’t forget, we play in essentially a 1 team conference. This could have gotten really ugly if we actually played a tough schedule or in a decent football conference. But it’s OK, we’re TNM. Or you can focus on how we beat Bethune and C Michigan and ignore the fact that this coaching staff and team has some major issues. Been a fan since the 70’s so I’ve seen some **** and I’m not afraid to call it out.

You can see it in our players. They look really small compared to Alabama, Clemson....
Not saying you're wrong, but those teams are starting with bigger kids. They get the handful of great DBs that are over 6' every year. They get the handful of big OL who can really move every year. They start with better raw materials.

I'm not gonna go that far, but I'm honestly starting to wonder how things would have played out if he just retooled his offensive staff in the offseason or hired helfrich that one time.

We absolutely are. Richt would’ve ran the ball 50 times against Carolina and we would’ve won by 2 scores

Better strength and conditioning programs will do that. Also Bama and Clemson recruit players by their measurements and they’re pretty strict about it. Notice how all their players in the same position look almost identical body wise. (Minus WR)

Example: They rarely recruit DBs under 5’11”. They’ll have a few outliers that they’ll offer like Bandy. They just prefer getting guys that have the ability to cover both the slot and taller receivers. Makes too much sense for me.

Miami won national championships by beating teams that had bigger and supposedly more talented players and Cane football became the gold standard and had a greater impact on college football than probably any program has ever had.

I hated Richt, but he’s easily 3-1 with this team and possibly 4-0.

I actually think we beat Florida with Richt too.

Richt would’ve found a way to lose 3-4 more games but just saying

That's fine, I'm just pointing out that a lot of why those kids are bigger is because of genetics.
