I was 100% against our self-imposed penalties because the NCAA was just paying lip service to considering that during their own penalty decision, which they withheld for years in order to create the stink of a dead program causing recruits to avoid us.

I hate the NCAA worse than all of the other actors combined. They are corrupt to the core.

Had the investigation not imploded, a two year bowl ban was probably the minimum that the NCAA would have imposed. So it was probably good to get ahead of that.

I’d love an honest answer as to why us? When other schools likely did far, far worse. And with impunity.

Shapiro’s antics were considered the worst thing ever in all of college sports. Yet there’s this, and nothing happens.

Yes, especially point number 2 regarding the hatred.
There is an intense hatred of all_things_Miami not just when it comes to UM, but other sports as well.
Look at the Marlins' when they won their 2 World Series. It was constant whining about them buying a championship, which they did, but other franchises did it before and after them (btw, hate the Marlins, but it's still the truth).
Same with the Heat.

1. Is silly talk & not reality. Saban & SEC had no trouble recruiting SF at the time. Familiar with enforcement folks & Saban/SEC weren’t dictating investigations.
2. This is what’s meant by Miami being the bad boys. And Shapiro teed it & reinforced the image.

1. Just because they had no trouble recruiting South Florida doesn't mean that they weren't going to sit back and be content with the way things were. It was part of a bigger strategy. And it also doesn't mean that Saban/SEC were "dictating" investigations. No one has ever said that.

2. And no. Shapiro was a narcissist poser who was ****ed off that he got caught (by the feds and by UM, who figured out that he was a bad guy pretty early on), and then made UM to be yet another one of his victims when he added the school to his fraudulent conveyance case.

Agree on the second point. The first is wild-*** conspiracy at its finest. Yeah, SEC coaches were seen huddling on the outskirts of Tupelo & believed to be crafting a SF recruiting strategy.
