The near-disaster on the 3rd quarter punt return

If George picked up his muffed punt and took it 95+ yards for a TD we'd be crowning him. The kid made a second mistake trying to correct his first mistake. It happens in the NFL too.

Fans are so stricken with 'Canes Suck PTSD' we freak out at every mistake, every play call that doesn't work...it's getting ridculous.

That posted, hopefully Diaz is fired soon, followed by Blake James.

Then a new era can begin.

It wasn’t a flukish penalty, it was literally the rule.

Whenever a player’s helmet comes off the play is supposed to be ruled dead & that player is no longer active or considered in play. The kid’s helmet came off & then he recovered the ball, which according to the rule is not possible because as soon as his helmet came off he was no longer allowed to continue the play, which means he didn’t actually recover the fumble.

It was lucky on our part, but it was not flukish.

Also, that’s the ebbs & flows of a football game, literally happens all the time on weekly basis with all kinds of teams in all kinds of scenarios, it’s actually not as big a deal as you’re making it.

We’re not a good football team, so take a guess what comes with that? A sh*t ton of mistakes & bad plays.

Just be to clear, the issue (to me) isn't that George muffed the punt.

It's that he tried to pick it up and run with it when it would've been much wiser to simply fall on the ball and retain possession.

And yeah, it's a coaching thing to me when that happens on that part of the field in a close game in the second half.

JMO, carry on 😃 (y)

CIS: This staff sucks, all the older kids blow, we need to play all the freshmen, they're way better!!!

Also CIS: This staff sucks, who puts a true freshman back to return punts??! Don't we have someone older to do that?!!?!?!!?
CIS: It's fielding a punt (or y'know, knowing when not to catch one), we're not asking them to perform brain surgery.

Whatever happened to put your heels on the 10 and don’t go backward for anything? It’s different when you have an elite returner back there, but we don’t have that. So why is that concept so hard to teach or understand?
