Someone posted regarding player, so I'll go ahead and ask this one. I love the 1994 team, but they are widely recognized among our 1990s fans. My pick for most underrated:

Well-reasoned answer.Nice Thread.
I would have to say the ’88 squad and here is why.
Miami lost a ton of talent from the 86’ and ’87 squads and although the ‘88 team was very talented, there was also a lot of inexperience. With Jimmy Johnson calling the shots and Steve Walsh leading the offense, that squad still almost walked away with a title.(We know why they didn’t, but I digress)
2003 defense was outstanding.2005 and 2018 for the defenses
2003 for the exciting games
2009 for the false hope
2017 for the ride
The LSU win was really impressive.for me it's 1988, it was the bridge between the monster 86 and 87 squads, and right before the guys Jimmy Johnson recruited for Erickson, that were quite ready to play
That squad beat pre-season #1 FSU, SEC co-champ, LSU, SWC titlists, Arkansas, Big 10 champion, Michigan, got robbed vs eventual national champs, Notre Dame, beat bowl-bound, BYU, and whipped Big 8 champion, Nebraska in the Orange Bowl
I know some may not think this team could be 'underrated', but this team was thought to be taking a step back in the pre-season. It wasn't quite as star-studded as the other teams that came before and after it. Steve Walsh really held that offense together post-Bomb Squad at WR.
To me, it's the best job Jimmy, ever did coaching in his career.
And then was gone to Dallas (and my slanted eyes filled with tears)
Man the 2009 season looked like it was going to be a good one after that 3-1 start against 4 ranked teams. All they had to do was beat Clemson and UNC and it would have been another rematch against Clemson for the ACC title game.2005 and 2018 for the defenses
2003 for the exciting games
2009 for the false hope
2017 for the ride
I was there....Just moved up to the Panhandle....Never saw so many Fine women at any game in my life. The LSU win was really impressive.
They would've curbstomped Clemson in the NC...Unfortunately we were on probation from an issue during Sabans reign. 2 of our loses came on Ungodly refereeing against Texas and Ole Miss....
Why?Here waiting patiently for @IndayArtHauz's 2022 sad trombone joke.
1990.
I'm sorry, but beating up a team like Texas in the Cotton Bowl like that is just absurd.
I was a senior in high school growing up in Ann Arbor and attended the ‘88 game. Down 30-14 with 7 minutes to play and won 31-30.for me it's 1988, it was the bridge between the monster 86 and 87 squads, and right before the guys Jimmy Johnson recruited for Erickson, that were quite ready to play

To this day I remember where I was when that game happened in Sarasota with my mom. We were out eating and looked up at the updates and couldn’t believe they came back.I was a senior in high school growing up in Ann Arbor and attended the ‘88 game. Down 30-14 with 7 minutes to play and won 31-30.
I wore my Miami baseball cap to school on Monday. I did not make any new friends that day but I was loving it.
