You don't need to be an insider to figure it out.

UM has to hire SOMEONE to be AD. They're not going to just leave the position unfilled. It's very likely they've already decided and made an offer. It's also likely that the offer has been accepted... of course there's no way to know that.

Even if you've made an offer and it was accepted, there's still going to be a time lag before that person can start actually working. There's a bunch of formalities - background checks, onboarding and compliance training, etc. It's not like you just make a call and the guy shows up to work tomorrow morning.

And that being the case, why would they announce anything ahead of Saturday's game? It would just be a distraction, and the AD can't fire Manny tomorrow anyway because he's probably not yet cleared to work.

And of course they're not going to announce Manny being fired before the game, and it would be respectful to the new AD to at least let him get started before HE makes that obvious call.

Nothing is unusual about any of this. If I were going to gripe about anything, it's that they shouldn't have waited so long to fire Blake and hire a new guy. But it is what it is at this point.

Just be patient.

I'd also add that Ferman's article wreaks of someone messaging through him. I'm sure he was fed this. So, take it with a grain of salt.
