The last time UM returned a punt for a touchdown

And I get sooo much **** for saying we can do better there.

I would like to see us seek out a true specialist.

Id like to see more blocked kicks as well.

We arent truly Miami Hurricanes football without dynamic special teams play.

Anyone who watches games can see Toney is an elite PR. You're not getting better than him outside of Niblett at Texas

Also, there are far fewer return attempts & punt block attempts than there used to be. Punters are exponentially better at preventing returns & teams don't want to risk roughing penalties.

The game has changed, it's not 2001 anymore

Will it into existence:

MALACHI TONEY WILL RETURN A PUNT FOR A TD VS NOTER LAME.

It was reported he spent alot of time on special teams in camp, besides that what other investments is he going to make? I agree it still can be coached better but blocked punts and return punts are rare today
I watch quite a bit of football.

I cant recall a single team that has consistently blocked or defended punts as poorly or ran into their own **** returner as often as we have.

You can tell it is an afterthought.

When you see FAU has returned four, this year, is kind of a crazy stat.
We do do a great job of stopping our own guy though 😂

For some reason, Mario doesn't see any value or potential return on investment in special teams.

Even tho it cost him a title, he won't prioritize solid, schematic special teams.

Just get some legs out of the portal a d call it good.

No effort in blocking punts, blocking on punts or kicks, lane integrity...none.

All of our returners make baffling decisions every game on whether to field a punt depending on where they are.
I feel like the strategy is:

1. don't get a running into or roughing the kicker call that moves the chains (no effort on punt blocks)
2. don't muff the punt (put Mali back there)
3. Get the offense back on the field

That's kind of it. No risks taken, which I hate.
Everybody says that until dudes start dropping punts
