The last time UM returned a punt for a touchdown

I can tell you the last time we had a punt blocked... :6fps6:
So you just had to go there, huh? You know what?
See Ya Lol GIF by HBO Max

I don't know if I will ever get over that ****....

Toney has had 6 punts on the year that were returns. There's a lot of fair catches. He's plenty capable of breaking one, just needs the right situation.

For some reason, Mario doesn't see any value or potential return on investment in special teams.

Even tho it cost him a title, he won't prioritize solid, schematic special teams.

Just get some legs out of the portal a d call it good.

No effort in blocking punts, blocking on punts or kicks, lane integrity...none.

All of our returners make baffling decisions every game on whether to field a punt depending on where they are.

It was reported he spent alot of time on special teams in camp, besides that what other investments is he going to make? I agree it still can be coached better but blocked punts and return punts are rare today

I feel like the strategy is:

1. don't get a running into or roughing the kicker call that moves the chains (no effort on punt blocks)
2. don't muff the punt (put Mali back there)
3. Get the offense back on the field

That's kind of it. No risks taken, which I hate.

I think whatever investments he made were not well thought out or effective.

Maybe they were and the players have no discipline or ability to implement the scheme.

Either way, it's unacceptable.

Jeff Thomas had some crazy returns in 2018 (2 vs Va Tech). Dumbass Nesta Silvera got called for holding against FIU that wiped one off.
