The last time UM returned a punt for a touchdown

****! I was thinking about that at the Pitt game— it’s been a while since
Closest I can remember is baby Jezuz at A&M during CFP when he got show strong tackles going up the side line…
Still cant believe Scott turned and ran to endzone like he had the ball.. We are soo terribly coached on special teams..

There were 31 total returns for a touchdown last year in college football.
2025 Individual Leaders
A few explosive returners stood out at the top of the national leaderboards: [1]
  • Kaden Wetjen (Iowa): Tied for the national lead with 3 punt return touchdowns, averaging 26.8 yards per return.
  • Vicari Swain (South Carolina): Also recorded 3 punt return touchdowns, matching Wetjen for the top spot.
  • Ryan Niblett (Texas): Found the end zone 2 times on punt returns, including an electric 79-yarder.
  • Kevin "KC" Concepcion (Texas A&M): Scored 2 punt return touchdowns.
  • Caullin Lacy (Louisville): Logged 2 scores, highlighted by a season-long 93-yard return.
  • The 31 touchdowns came out of approximately 6,800 to 7,000 total punts kicked across all FBS teams during the 2025 college football regular season.

To put that into context, that means a punt was returned for a touchdown roughly once every 220 kicks (or about a 0.45% success rate). This exceptionally low number highlights just how difficult it is to break past a modern coverage unit, making the explosive multi-touchdown seasons from players like Kaden Wetjen and Vicari Swain even more remarkable.

And I get sooo much **** for saying we can do better there.

I would like to see us seek out a true specialist.

Id like to see more blocked kicks as well.

We arent truly Miami Hurricanes football without dynamic special teams play.
In theory, Keelon Marion was an all-american return specialist so it isn't like we haven't tried.
