The Keep Mark Richt Thread

Assume I'm just "nitpicking" that I think coaching was horrific in our loss tonight to Duke, F***ing Duke! Nice time management at the end of the game don't you think? Absolutely pathetic coaching, but keeping trying to hide the reality.

By the way, we lost to DUKE! UVA, BC and Duke, yes UM lost these three in a row.
You’re emotional. I understand. I’m also ****ed off. This obviously is not an argument I am going to win tonight or one that I even want to win.
Look at the big picture little boys, so when you sleep tonight and hug your pillows and mumble yourselves to sleep about those nasty Richt slurpers, just remember that we all want him to make changes in the offseason and this team will be much better next year. Quit fantasizing about all these coaches coming in - aint happening and not good for ur mental health.

Could it simply be that this team just sucks and is one of those rebuild years? Do we really have to take out the pitchforks? Yes, this team is bad, particularly the offense and special teams. You realize how many freshmen are playing? We’re still relying on Golden specials to make plays. Why would a 6’6” receiver push off on a 5’10” corner for a jumpball? Why would Mike Smith come in and grab a face mask when all he had to do was make a straightforward tackle? Why are these guys at Miami? I don’t have Richt blinders but be real. This team is bad, I believe they’ll be much better next year, and Richt is building a program with much better players.

Show me where I called anyone a Richt slurper? Show me where I called him Mork? Show me where I called him Al Golden? Try to be cute with your posts and the "little Boy" "hug you pillow" BS, but it is a bore. Face the facts you try to deflect, Richt is a problem. Oh, and show me what coach I fantasize about coming in. If you are going to try to talk ****, at least get your facts correct, like I have.

So are you happy with the urgency at the end of the game? What about play calling, execution? Stupid penalties? QB abilities and awareness? Special Teams? Think Richt should have been just a little vocal with refs during any point of this game?

Ask UGA fans if they want Richt back, then ask if the 10 wins last season at UM changes their mind. Randy and Al both won 9 games, only 1 game difference, so it's not like 10 games ending with 3 losses in a row is as monumental as you wish to make it.

By the way, we just got beat by Duke, first time since 1976 at home, you know, about the time when we were thinking about shutting down the program since you are such an historian.

You’re taking this personally. I wasn’t calling you out specifically but the posters in general in here who are going nuts and telling everyone who might disagree with them to kill themselves.
This team is bad. I’m not arguing that. But you have to have some perspective. Rosier is bad. Perry isn’t completely ready. The OLine, though better tonight, has been in disarray. Are you right to blame the coaches? Yes, but this is what happens when 10 years of incompetence precedes this. Yes, changes must be made and this loss was embarrassing but the players also lost this game. It’s just a bad year. Guess what, even Bear Bryant, Tom Osborne, Urban Meyer, and Jim Harbaugh had bad years.

This thread is trending down this week.

12 points against Dook.

Night game, at Hard Rock, against a duke team that gave up 4.38 million yards against Pitt last weekend.

Twelve points.

1. How is it that one QB on our roster is not good or ready to play? It is coaching. Perry should be ready, Rosier should be better than he is mechanically, and Williams should have the training wheels off.
2. Unless Richts hand is forced don't expect much. However, wholesale changes are usually a sign of desperation and a sign that things are imploding changes are not.
3. Not sure I want to blame the players on this. Discipline is taught by coaches. Urgency is taught by coaches. Mental toughness is taught by coaches. Awareness is taught by coaches. We lack in all of these areas, so I do not blame the players.
4. Three of four won multiple championships, something Richt has none. One's team played for a championship, Richt is still waiting for his chance.

Then ******* don't play cager. He's been this way all season. We have plenty of young talent at wr. Play them instead. Richt literally just likes cager cause he's tall. ******* stupid.

1. Alright man let’s play this game. Rosier admitted to not watching film before last year. So basically Richt inherited a 4th year freshman who was recruited by exactly how many P5 schools? Then Kosi, a kid with all the talent in the world but apparently not the work ethic and not doing the little things. Is coaching part of it? Yea, but I think next year it’s Jarren. That’s CMRs guy. He will be the starting quarterback next year. If Kosi wins then I’ll take it as a sign that he stepped his game up significantly and attribute that to Richt as well.
2. Wholesale changes are a mark of desperation ala Coker but the changes needed now aren’t huge changes. Richt needs to give up play calling. Hire an OC or make Thomas Brown the permanent OC with Richt taking over as QB coach. Then find a special teams coordinator because that’s ridiculous right now. I don’t know how Feagles can be so bad.
3. I don’t like to blame players either, but they can still be held accountable right? They’re young adults, not children. Im sure you ask some of them and they’re grown *** men. Why do we give players all the credit in ‘01 and not Coker? But when things go bad suddenly players can’t be criticized? Makes for a good statement but not the whole truth.
4. You’re right and makes my point that even great coaches have bad seasons. Richt is not great but good. I hope he’ll be great here and soon. He has a decent track record so I’m expecting next year to be a good one. 2 bad years in a row will set him up to be fired by 2020. We’ll see.

I know but my point is you have this kid and you want him to know you trust him because you kinda need him in these situations and the play was right there! He was in position to make a play and he didn’t have to push off. Player didn’t make a play.

Is this the Mulvey who fled RCT after FsuWho suggested you start eating salads?

He is either recruiting the wrong QB's or not developing them. Even with the right QB's, he's running an antiquated offense off of a 30 year old motionless offense. We're the modern version of the outdated wishbone offense and even the mid level programs have passed us by.

Richt refuses to make adjustments to the skill sets of the players he has. It's like he'd rather lose his way than win someone else's way as I've mentioned.

QB, OL, ST & (LB) coaching is atrocious. His recruiting strategy is downright negligent, especially the way they put their eggs in a few baskets, get burned and do it again.

Good points however Jarren Williams is the only QB he has actually recruited.... Also, Jimmy Johnson’s offenses were way more vanilla than we currently have and if you notice so is Alabama, Georgia, etc etc....

The most troubling thing is our team is more talented and getting Golden-esque results all the same
Your Right.... but the QBs are Goldenesque and therefore cannot hit the wide open bigger, faster, stronger receivers... Teams are officially doubling down on us.... They stack the box shutting down run...but both QB’s cannot rise to the adversity presented to them. If I was Richt none of the seniors would play rest of the season. Most freshmen requires can keep their red shirt... season is shot

I disagree this team does not suck... the QBs and the young offensive line q below average.

1. WOW, if Perry steps up attribute it to Richt. Rosier has done nothing to improve, so it is a talent, not working thing, nothing to do with coaching. If Perry does not step up it is on him, not the coach PAID to improve his skills, much like he is PAID to improve Rosier. BTW, neither look improved. Yes, I think Williams is the future, but I have great concern over the fact that our QB's do not seems prepared, do not have awareness, and lack good mechanics. I also have concern that we have zero targets on board. Also, why is it that Perry was not ready, Rosier cannot lead the team, and the staff decided not to go after a transfer. Think Michigan would be where they are without Shea? You want to place this on the players, not the staff, I don't quiet understand the logic.

2. The changes needed now are not huge? Did you watch the last three games? Not even sure how to approach your answer if you cannot see past OC and ST. Can you tell me where we are in recruiting? You do know that is important part of a coaches responsibilities, and I don't want to hear about last years class, because you want to look to the future. We have opportunity to sell, but it does not look like we have a lot of top buyers. Now Crowley is looking elsewhere possibly? Potentially a huge loss if true.

3. You don't like to blame players but you chose to. Too bad you do not want to criticize the staff the same (see question 1 where the QB's are at fault, not the staff). Yes in 2001 the players were special, but if you look at the discipline, focus, readiness... of that team, it is night and day compared to this team. It is a reflection of the way they were brought up in the system. So the question of this team is Jimmy's and Joe or X's and O's. Sure, we need more talent, but if you cannot see the coaching issues I not sure what you are watching. You mention Bryant, Meyer, Saban and Harbaugh. How many of them do you think would be 5-4 and score 13-14-12 points against UVA, BC and Duke in their 3rd year here. Not to mention being off the map recruiting.

4. Richt's not great, but good. You said it all right there, so why be content with good? The AD wants a puppet, someone they can control and will represent the school well with no issues. That is why the Pirate and Mullen are not here, one is a loose cannon and the other they cannot put their thumb on. Neither would necessarily be my choice, but both wanted the job, with Mullen being turned down twice(?). The team seems to take the personality of the coach, and it is of my opinion we need a SOB cut throat type to win here.
