Made my heart so happy seeing that play - so many great options and variations just off that simple motion that we've been screaming for all year.

We ran it with Berrios on the jet sweep - I'd love to eventually see Thomas or even Deejay in that role. Notice also Rosier shadowing the sweep almost like a triple-option. We run the counter to Homer, but we can utilize the sweep or even some passing plays out of this formation.

FINALLY!!! I guess the whole "playing possum with the playbook" really was a thing after all.

DeeJay in the wildcat with JT running a jet sweep would be a good way to keep an opposing D on their heels.

Absolutely this.

Also, anyone else notice how comfortable DeeJay looked out there in the shotgun and running with the ball? Most of us thought he was a special talent but I honestly think I may have underrated how much he would contribute as a true freshman.

Shouldn't have taken until November to get him involved but I'll stop complaining now.

I loved how his face lit up when asked about taking snaps at QB. He said he had to learn routes (at receiver and such) and blocking schemes while at RB...but at QB, he said something to the effect of 'I'm a natural back there.'

Him occasionally lining up in the wildcat is a good thing.

I was hoping they'd run Deejay out of the wildcat at some point. I didn't think he'd be ready so soon. Next, just once, I'd like to see him launch one deep out of it. I don't think we see it this year, but I think it's coming, with the WR doing a double move, to allow the DB to see the Deejay in the wildcat.

For me, after watching horrible playcalling for more than a decade, it was nice to see a coaching staff get creative with ways to move the ball. Instead of trying to pound them over and over, we made a slow team take themselves out of position and ran through them. Like I said earlier, it's nice to finally see a staff ADJUST!

People begging for this and that on an Offense that is nationally ranked 12. Once again why show your cards when you don't have to, why 4play and cuddle when u can get buy with less. Opposing Defenses are trying to figure out who is who all along while CMR is being 2 steps ahead. We spread the ball around and it's only yr 2. When his recruits know his system the play call will not be a problem.

or even Deejay on the jet sweep and pass to Rosier that we ran against VT. Deejay having some more qb experience than Berrios might be a better option on that play.

I almost fainted. Would love to run it with someone other than Harris, but hey... Richt, Brown and Searless did a good job of implementing new running plays. More misdirection and variations of the veer/read option. Gets me pumped

What really pleased me is that you don't have to get THAT creative in order to have an effective and misdirecting offense. We don't need to run triple-reverse halfback passes (in the snow, uphill both ways). Just a simple "tree" of plays that keeps the defense guessing - like the jet-sweep counter.

Another play that busted big runs the last two weeks is that read option with Herndon In the backfield HurricaneVision was talking about. Herndon comes across the formation, looking like a lead block or option toss for Rosier that had the linebackers bite bad both weeks. Homer cuts right into the vacated space.

The offense expanding isn’t about keeping cards close to the vest for later, it’s just the natural progression of how much this group of 18-23 year olds can retain at a high level of execution. If Richt has shown us nothing as a playcaller the last two years, it’s that he methodically installs packages like you’d expect from a well written lesson plan. It’s why he’s having so much fun, he’s teaching again.

Yep. Te O had to crawl before it could walk, and walk before it could run. They are installing more and more because they are actually learning and growing as a unit. It has nothing to do with Richt holding back, but rather the O getting to the point where it can run more plays.

Yes! VT and ND didn't know what to do with it. It seemed to be getting 10+ yards each time it was called.

I expect Clemson to clamp down on it a little bit, but like you mentioned, it's not just some one-off gimmick. The "tree" of plays will keep any opponent from zeroing in on one option without exposing the other parts. This is the kind of playcalling identity that keeps defenses off-balance.

You can also do so much with that play. Pitt had a play against us last year (TD) where they had a fake jet sweep/counter/read zone play and ended up being an insider shovel pass. Guy wasn't even touched from 30 yards out. It was pure genius.
