THE ADIDAS ERA

The University of Miami and adidas officially unveiled the Hurricanes' new Primeknit football uniforms for the 2015 season. With Club LIV at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach serving as the backdrop, along with surprise performances by DJ Cannon and Pusha T, a host of football alumni, celebrities were in attendance to get the first-look at the new uniforms and to celebrate the new partnership which began on September 1, 2015.

THE LEGEND OF THE U
The University of Miami and adidas unveiled the Hurricanes' new ‘Legend of the U’ Primeknit football uniforms on Sep. 19, which will make their debut on Oct. 8 when the Hurricanes take on the Florida State at Hard Rock Stadium.

CUSTOM CLEATS
The Hurricanes wore custom cleats for their September 2015 matchup with Nebraska. The cleats were completely customized for each player with a message of their choosing on the side.

305 ICE
Miami debuted a special jersey called "305 Ice" for a Thursday night matchup at Cincinnati. The uniform included a silver, "chrome" U on the helmets.

VETERANS DAY UNIFORMS
The Canes wore special uniforms for their November 2015 matchup with Virginia. The uniforms consisted of black helmets and jerseys. The cleats were designed to look like combat boots with canvas and suede inspired by the Delta Force footwear.
JERSEYS
These watercolor paintings were created by Toronto-based artist Scott Sillcox as part of a collection of Miami Hurricanes jerseys through the years.

THE EARLY YEARS
The first varsity football team played in 1927 and coach Howard Buck guided the Hurricanes to to a 39-3 win in their season opener against Rollins. UM played in their first bowl game in 1933 and upset Manhattan 7-0. In 1937, the Canes won their first meeting with the Gators 19-7 on the road.

1950S
In 1950, Al Carapella became UM's first major college All-American. In 1954, a No. 9 ranking marked UM's first Top 10 ranking at the end of the season. In the late 1950s, UM won a battle with the city to open seating to African-Americans in the entire Orange Bowl.

1960S
In December 1966, UM signed an African-American athlete, Ray Bellamy, to play wide receiver. Miami became the second major college in the South with an African-American football player on scholarship.

THE U IS BORN
In the early 1970s, UM wanted to create a logo that would symbolize the brand without having to say any words. Publicist Julian Cole, a UM grad, worked with graphic artist Bill Bodenhamer to develop the orange and green split-U. An all orange U logo first appeared on helmets in 1972 with the current orange and green logo being rolled out in 1973.

1970S
Five different coaches guided UM from 1970-78 to a 37-61 record. In January 1979, UM hired Dolphins offensive coordinator Howard Schnellenberger who installed a pro-style passing attack.

Oh... I was expecting a post about used car salesmen from Jersey that ruin organizations and businesses

The link is in the green writing titled The Jersey Project.
It's not mine, it's from Hurricane Sports.

Brotha, u still took the time to post it....so again, I repeats, solid info my guy.

The U has had so many different uniforms in our history...we were Oregon before Oregon. Lol. One thing I did like that Nike did was throw in the 1968 throw back in the rotation in either 05 or 06. Now that Adidas has given us back our iconic look, I wouldn't mind seeing some old school jerseys thrown in when we play certain teams.

Enough with this jersey ****! I get the team getting new jerseys but it should only go as far as fans on game days going "hmm, nice jerseys". All this releases and fake excitement surrounded around it is garbage. Its as though the game of football isnt enough, they are constantly surrounding it with BS unnecessary garbage.

Yeah that would be crazy!
I wouldn't mind seeing a throwback night, bringing back some of the Uni combos from the late 1960's era. I wasn't even born then, but that Gold looks kind of dope with the Hurricane Flag on it.

So AllCanes says they're unlikely to do the custom number for the jerseys. Anyone know of any other options?

I would guess no (but certainly don't know this for sure). A few years ago, you could personalize the Nike jerseys with name/numbers on Fanatics.com, but to date, that hasn't been available for the adidas jerseys. I would think that unless you're able to do so on Fanatics, and allcanes isn't doing them, there may not be any way to do so.

Please tell me they burned the 305 Ice Uniforms, witn Cincy signee Alex Gall's scholly paperwork as kindling...

Those alternates we had last year were sick as ****. We wear these new uni's with 1 or 2 alternates of that quality per year, and i don't know how anyone can ask for anything more.

I am not a fan of alternatives but I can live with this approach as long as the current uniforms are worn the majority of the games, especially the big games. Save the alternates for the Duke's and Pitt's of the world.

Get to work, brother

I just gotta buy 2 jerseys and use the other "1"! Seriously, where does a guy just f'in order a #11 , old school jersey, damnit.

My old Ken Dorsey jersey, received as a Christmas gift the year before we won our last 'ship, is officially torn to bits. With all the heartbreak and soul-sucking losses we've faced over the last 14 years, they should at least allow us to customize our jersey #s .
