Let's take a look at the 'project" takes from Golden and see how they've panned out. Point being is the ones that should never even be at Miami in the first place are the ones that are killing our depth. We have been fortunate that we haven't lost too many impact players to dismissal/transfer/etc. Because Al just can't get enough quality kids to say yes he has a track record to just taking kids to take kids and when they don't pan out we "have depth issues" and "we are still young" being forced to play kids that aren't ready. Yes, Al has landed some good players but only about 60% of the classes are with players with caliber of Miami. Another reason the man is in way over his head. For those blaming it on "the cloud", please look at this 2015 class which feels a lot like the 2012 in the making.

2011
Ricardo Williams - off team

2012
Jawand Blue - off team
Jacoby Briscoe - off team
Jontavious Carter - off team
Gray Crow - position change/JAG
Vernon Davis - off team
Preston Dewey - off team
Danny Dillard - off team
Nate Dortch - off team
Dwayne Hoilett - off team
Larry Hope off team
Danny Isidora - starter
Dequan Ivery - off team or JAG???
D'Mauri Jones - JAG
Jake O'Donnell - JAG
Josh Witt - off team

2013
Ufomba Kamula - plays/JAG
Hunter Knighton - severe illness
Ray Lewis III - transferring per rumors
Sunny Odogwu - JAG
Walter Tucker - starter

Save your breath next time. We were desperate and didn't really have the best options on top of a coaching change. Make some more realistic comparisons. Look what's going on at Texas right now and that's with a hot coach.

Bit misleading.

Calling Kamalu a JAG is disingenuous. He's a very solid player, especially for this scheme. I've expected more out of Olsen Pierre, but he's also a project that he's developed into a nice player.

If not for his injury, I think Rayshawn Jenkins could be considered a successful project.

Antonio Crawford had one major offer from Georgia Tech.

Eddie Johnson, Gabe Terry, and Figueroa count as projects.

Walter Tucker is CERTAINLY not a failed experiment.

More recent, but Courtel Jenkins and Nick Linder were sleeper prospects. They're starters now as freshmen.

You also of course neglected to mention Thurston Armbrister.

Most of the busts are from the '12 class.

It's more of a mixed batch than you're letting on.

definitely misleading. you left off a ton of successful projects. its been closer to 40/60-50/50 than what your post suggested

Plenty of guys on that list with other good offers. no Armbrister, Pierre or Gunter? Stupid thread if you're not going to be honest. Dewey alone had offers from UNC, Old Miss, UCLA and Tennessee. Danny Isidora Michigan, Wisconsin and West Virginia. stupid…… just stupid

This.

OP failed to mention some projects/low ranked recruits that turned out to be solid contributors.

Also to add, the first recruiting class shouldn't even count. At the point Al and the staff were scrambling just to put a class together with a little over a month to do it. At the point I think they were just trying to grab anyone.

We'd be in more trouble if many of those JAGS didn't get processed and were playing. Silver lining!

Oh yeah...and uh, Nate Dortch...

You'd be surprised if somebody here informed you as to who that kid had a scholarship offer from.

Lets see how the 2016 class pans out. Thats where we will see if he can ramp it up. Because up until the '15 class, too many reaches. You can't do that and win titles. No way
