Welcome into The Foe Dive -- a breakdown on each team the Miami Hurricanes will play this season. The good guys are currently 4-0 on the season, taking down the Stanford Cardinal, FAMU Rattlers, Wake Forest Demon Deacons, and the Central Michigan Chippewas. Let's waste no time, let's meet the Clemson Tigers.

Clemson University

Clemson University was founded in 1889 when South Carolina Governor John Peter Richardson III signed a bill to establish the school. When the university opened its doors, it was originally named Clemson Agricultural College of South Carolina -- or often called Clemson A&M. The school then changed its name to Clemson University in 1964. The campus is located 30 miles west of Greenville and two hours from the South Carolina Gamecocks campus. Clemson is a public university and has an acceptance rate of 42%. If you stroll by their campus, you might encounter "feral cats and other wild animals on campus," according to their website page.

Where should I eat?

If you're planning on attending the game and you're looking for a restaurant to hit up, look no further than The Esso Club, especially if you want to encounter several drunk Tiger fans. The restaurant has been a game-day gathering spot for fans since 1933, meaning it has served them for 93 years. Crazy, right?

Notable Clemson Tiger alumni

Clemson has several notable alumni, such as quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who has phenomenal hair, and Deshaun Watson, the quarterback before Lawrence who won a national championship with the Tigers in 2016. Nikki Haley graduated from Clemson in 1994 and became the 116th governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017 and as the 29th U.S. ambassador to the United Nations from 2017 to 2018.

Tradition

Running down the hill and touching the rock -- One of the most historic traditions in college football is the Clemson Tigers running down the hill while also touching the rock. What's interesting is that they pull up on buses for their entrance, so they get off, run to the rock, and run down the hill. The team touches Howard's Rock to give 110% effort and to bring good luck before running down The Hill.

Last time we met

The last time the Miami Hurricanes collided helmets against the Clemson Tigers on the gridiron was in 2023, when the Hurricanes escaped with a 28-20 overtime win over the Tigers at Hard Rock Stadium. The team was without starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, making back-up signal-caller Emory Williams take over at the helm and win against the 4-3 Tigers.

Whatever you do. DO NOT repeat DO NOT eat at the ESSO Club.

1) You have to literally stand over a table in the hopes that the current patrons are leaving soon. There is no line or any semblance of a structured seating arrangement.
The food is nothing short ABYSMAL. If you can even get a burger to be presentable, or digestible, that should tell you something.

It is a dive, and an extremely bad one. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
