The final 6 offensive drives

there really isn't another good explanation for it. people are ripping the playcalling but dawson has never turtled up this bad before and it's tough for me to believe he would if he felt good about mensah's health. my guess is mensah dinged up + waning confidence in pass pro
He has turtled up this bad. It has happened a lot. We have just always had an offensive line and running game to manufacture something.now we don’t. He went ultra conservative so many times last year with a lead in the second half. I don’t know if that’s Mario’s call or full Dawson.

Taking the penalty was fine. No wrong answer and analytics show take it.

The risk v reward of a 54 yard FG is the real head scratcher. Punt that all day.

Analytics say punt would be the worst of the three choices.

FG was the 2nd best choice but I give Mario a pass on that considering we just had 5 three and outs in a row

How did Dawson turtle up aside from the late game 2 screens series when it was clear Mensah was off? Our run game was non-existent but he was calling downfield passing plays. Mensah was missing open targets. Mali was open 3 separate times and if he hits Lofton on that one play to the top of the screen it’s a TD or explosive at a minimum. Mensah went from like 34 completions in a row to not seeing anything.

My only real issue with Dawson was the direct snap on 3rd at the end of the half. You need to let Mensah throw there. I do think they were probably planning to go for it on 4th and that injury and 10 second run off ruined whatever plan they had.

Dawson is the problem!! Dude shxt his pants the second half.
See first of half of Natty! When his play calling is off usually does not get fixed until halftime or the next game. I think he is a very good OC but **** when he gets stuck it’s tough for him to find his way.

What I’m kind of surprised by, and I hope any more knowledgeable can explain - is our offense dead without Toney? Like is the gap between him and the rest of our WRs that big a gap that defenses can shut us down anytime he’s out? I know the rest aren’t WR1’s but I genuinely believed even without Toney, a combination of Barkate, Upshaw, Moore and Lofton could at least be decent? I really hope that still is the case and last night was more due to conservative play calling than on field ability.

If Mensah was hurt, that has an impact obviously, but so much so that we couldn’t even run meshes or quick slants 5 yards downfield?

The most plausible explanation I’ve heard is we just wanted to get out of there without more injuries, and maybe that was the plan but because of our OL, we couldn’t get any first down momentum on our runs..
