After a very impressive camp, there was a lot of smoke that Congdon would start against Stanford and a lot of folk were surprised not just that he didn't start, but how few snaps he took. His snap count doubled against FAMU but he also was the lowest graded OL. Will be very interesting to revisit this thread as he career evolves.


 
Definitely confusing for me. Prior to last night, I thought maybe he had gotten injured or something.

The Congdon piece is weird ONLY because the hype was he was dominating lol and now back to back seems to be whatever against terrible competition. He’s a true freshman so it doesn’t matter but I just am surprised given what we heard and knowing who our interior DL is and interior veteran LBs are.

We all fell for the pre season hype machine - it's a reminder to temper enthusiasm despite the insider hype.

They tried him at RT for a couple plays last night and needless to say, that's not his spot either. Not sure how he fits into things but he's not even in the rotation yet. I get not starting but to barely sniff a rotation is a bit surprising. I like his energy in run blocking but it's clear he has a long way to go.
 
He did not look impressive whatsoever at the spring game, granted it was his first spring. I think it will be a couple seasons before he starts here.

Was trying to tell people you DO NOT want multiple true freshman starting on your oline if you have championship aspirations.. that just doesnt make sense, then you hear them screaming big ben, king congdon lol..

I know, I know the Greentree Hype machine blah, blah....But this on you who were
expecting Orlando Pace/Bill Fralic....for the love of football gods, stop assessing
a kid who hasn't been on campus for even 1 year.

This is on the people who watched him and said he was ahead of Cantwell.

They were the ones assessing him. Otherwise nobody even knows his name.

Yes and no. It’s not fully on the fans.

If you don’t have access to camp/practice personally and all you have to go by is what is put out by insiders. It seems the vast majority were saying he was running with the 1s. Then come gametime he isn’t, it’s not unreasonable to ask “what happened?”
