It's going to cost Miami mucho money. Richt was at the standard just two years ago. Are you guys seeing what these new hires are getting?

If Richt gets the U into the playoff in year two using young guys and Golden leftovers, he deserves to be paid like a top 5 coach.

He would probably use the extra money to fund the IPF and to keep assistants

Your trying to hard....

I think Richt is happy and content right now... if he wins the natty this year we definitely Will talk extension

Some of you guys can find the negative, scared reaction in everything.

He and the staff have more than earned it based on the increases in season ticket sales, licensing, etc.

Did you see the 3 day advertisement for the University around the ND game? You know what that would cost through traditional advertising/marketing?

If they produce top 5 results, pay them like a top 5 staff and be happy about it.

If Richt was a money first guy he wouldnt have donated 1 million to the IPF. Think before you post OP.

Richt would be far more likely to leverage this for an increased staff budget behind the scenes. I hope he does.

He is coaching where he went to college. He loves it here. He also gets to give his son a job and build up the resume. On top of that he gets complete control and to call his plays. Not sure how much he made at UGA but is probably already set for life. Doubt he wants to go chase a few extra dollars somewhere else and have to deal with all the headaches. A lot of these places are having to pay their 4th or 5th choice all this money because nobody wants to deal with all the issues that comes along with those jobs. One of those schools just bullied their way out of paying a guaranteed buy out.

absolutely. I am glad that the admin realizes you sometimes have to spend money to make more money. This is a perfect example instead of going on the cheap with the prior two coaches.

He wants to finish his career here. He is not looking to jump ship. He did not look to jump ship at Georgia. It is not about the money. He definitely wants the tools necessary to win and would use his leverage for coaches, assistants, analysts, and facilities. I just don' think he is going to be griping for his own salary.

The coach after Richt may cost a pretty penny though.

I don't think so. We actually have a coach that wants to be here and will retire here. He will not be bolting for any job because of money unlike that creep up North. He also is such a respectful person, he wouldn't be out flirting with other schools to try to get what he wants. He would ask and it would be granted as long as its not an astronomical ask. More money for assistants, sure Mark.

In less than 2 years we have already made up ground on UF and FSU and after this cycle of recruiting will be passed them with a IPF.

Every time I hear Jimbo talk, there is not a chance in the world anyone could trust that guy. Fast talking shyster!

I think honestly because there was so many jobs available that teams had to overpay

This was the year to be a Free agent coach

I don’t think Mark is driven by $$ at this moment. If he wants a raise, then fine give him one. Mostly I would like more for staff and support. Things are not perfect but I would prefer we keep want we have unless Mark wants someone else. Pay Manny enough to make it too expensive for lower level school to snatch him. Also, maybe extra staff in S&C area with attention to speed. We need to do whatever we can to get more speed.

Let's run through the coaches real quick -

MR - On a mission to win a Title here, Not going anywhere

Jon Richt - Not Going anywhere

Thomas Brown - Loves MR, is still developing as a coach, and has an OC title here - Not Going Anywhere

Ron Dugans - FSU does scare me, but is a Richt guy, and my guess is we would match FSUs offer

Hartley - Still developing, Not Going Anywhere

Kool - has an assistant HC title - Not Going Anywhere

Mike Rumph - Cane - Not Going Anywhere

Banda - still developing - Not Going Anywhere

Manny Diaz - thought Miss St would make a run, but they hired Penn States OC already, maybe FSU but I'd think they want someone with HC experience. A school like UCF or USF could be intriguing for Manny, but I just don't see him making that move now.

---Bottom Line - Manny's a Miami guy and possible HC in waiting here after Richt (4-5 more years). Miami gives him the ability to recruit the athletes that fit perfectly in his system and he has the best DL coach in America.

Mark is not going anywhere. He is a stay put type of guy. Stayed at FSU a long time and even tried to turn down the uga job. He never leveraged uga and would had retired from there. He is here until he retires or gets fired. Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t reward him, just the facts. I am happy for him. He lived in the shadows of greatness forever. Now he can rise above all and return his own school to the greatness it had.

This. Richt doesn't strike me as a "give me my money" kind of guy, and he's already making a competitive salary at $4 million/year, which is the 3rd highest in the ACC (behind Jimbo and Dabo). If money came into this at all, I could definitely see him lobbying the athletic department for more money for his assistants, but he's not the kind of guy who plays the "flirt with other schools to get a raise" game.

Wasnt Cristobal a Miami guy? I just dont think that intangible really carries any weight.

Yep. He can, and should, do this. He wants to keep this staff in place, and so does the administration.

Didn't he actually get a slap on the wrist at this while at UGA for paying or trying to pay some of his assistants out of his own pocket?

Can't recall the specifics, but I do remember hearing he either did this or wanted to. It would probably make the school look bad, but it makes the man look good. Call it a hunch, but I think Miami will take care of his assistant coaches better than Georgia did. Richt has done so much for the University of Miami that they will pay him back by helping him keep this staff together. I could be wrong, but I don't see the administration letting this staff fall apart by going cheap, again. They know what that does, and they won't risk it over a few hundred thousand dollars. Couldn't say the same 10 years ago, but the times are changing.
