Surprised when I found out (didn't hear an announcement at the game, i.e. not made or too loud) that the refs were Big 12; I assumed SEC based on the calls/non-calls ratio. Surprised the Big 12 Director of Officiating didn't give the wink/wink, nudge/nudge to his crew to call it fairly straight, Beck RTP notwithstanding, it favored Indiana from my view in the seats.

In order for the Big 12/ACC to rise, they have to break the Duopoly of the B1G/SEC. The last champion not from the "Big Two" was Clemson in 2018. You are already at a disadvantage with one position each (if no 16 team expansion, which POTUS Trump made more doubtful) and don't forget The Domers apparent side deal. Yormack is supposed to be light years ahead of Phillips, but this little difference to the duopoly sure doesn't help the (non) Power Two...Unless he is getting some sweetener somewhere else or eyes Sankey's job since The Commission still had a lot of infighting too.

Big 12 understood the assignment (mostly) for the A&M game. They didn't get to that level for this one. But I've seen far worse.

This refs were just very weird and out of character a couple of times.

Cignetti was griping about 3 personal fouls on Mendoza on one drive. I guess one of them was when Thomas bloodied him. Have no clue what the other 2 were. So I guess to some extent they let them play. I hope Cignetti understands that if you are going to hav your QB pretend like he is running every play, then he’s going to get popped. And popped him we did

Yeah, especially CB v WR...they let both teams play physically. We got away with a few pretty clear PIs and they did too.
Cici and Bell got away with a couple blatant holds. There was no bias. It was law of the jungle out there most of the game.

It was a well-officiated game by a good crew. We can nitpick missed calls on our end but so can IU (I hought CiCi got away with a clear hold on #4 on the Fletcher 10-yard outside run on our second TD drive)
