A 2-2 Canes team, playing Duke at home, at noon, in front of under 30k.

We lose that, and I say the only question is when Golden is fired.

No way can the program rebound from 2-3, 0-2 ACC). It will be a disaster.

Funny thing is Smokey, they (DUKE) are already in mid season form, that offense is churning it out.

I agree. I actually think that the Duke game is the turning point for the season. No matter what happens against Nebraska, even if we get blown out, if we somehow miraculously win the Coastal division this year, Golden isn't getting fired. However, if we lose to Duke at home, and have 3 losses in September, with 2 in the conference, and still have to play FSU, @VT, UNC and GT, it's almost impossible to see us winning the division, and, at that point, with how last year ended and this year starts, you'd have to think that whatever support Golden has from the players would be gone and the season could spiral out of control.

Why would losing to Duke matter? They beat us last year. Now, losing to GT would be more painful It is the only team Al's defense works against.

It's not who we're losing to, it's the situation we would be in after losing. I would have the same opinion as to the importance of the game if it were GT, UNC or VT, all teams that could realistically beat us that are in our conference, playing us at home, with us already with 1 conference loss, possibly coming off of a bad performance on national TV against Nebraska, with the way last season ended. That is why the game very well may determine our season.

I don't understand the attitude that since Duke beat us once, that it is suddenly expected every year.

If we're 2-3 after Duke...man...i dont wanna think about that. Somehow a part of me, maybe in my subconscious, has hope we can play well. But my mind knows better. Battling ourselves will be the hard part about this season....**** everything.

I'm not expecting it, but I think that as last year showed, it's obviously not impossible. Cutcliffe is a significantly better coach than Golden, they return a bunch of people, they hammered us last year and there was nothing from Monday night that made me think we're in a better spot than last year. I expect us to win. The idea of losing in back to back years to Duke, in football, makes me want to throw up. Again, I'm just stating that it's going to be a hugely important game for our season.

I wish Miami was one I those top teams every year like LSU, Bama, Oregon, that has a great coach and people get scared of when they schedule them. Maybe one day.....

I think Omar Kelly was right. The university of Miami doesn't really care about football. That's why they have low payrolls and just average/above-average facilities. They only want their players to graduate and be decent.

Its different. All of those other programs have elite programs, have won national championships and have fertile recruiting grounds from which to recruit.

oh wait....

with the talent we have in our backyard, just by blind dumb luck we almost have to be back in the next 20 years.....don't we?

Everyone we play after FAMU and Arky St will outcoach us, and have a better QB, and a better D, I would say, and they will ALL have better OCs. Maybe Pitt, UVA and Cincy being exceptions, but marginal exceptions.

We were BLOWN out by Duke last year. They had a better year than ANY Canes team has had since joining the ACC. (unless you count Coker finishing 3rd in the ACC and then winning the Orange Bowl against UF that year). Light years better than ANY season Golden has ever had.

I'm calling blowout losses to GT, UNC, Free Shoes and VT in the ACC. Duke, I think we pull it out. But an upset at the hands of genius Mike London or Pitt is not surprising.

I meant Ortange Bowl win against Free Shoes, not UF. **** site won't let me edit for some reason.

We've already lost the coastal regardless of the Duke game. We're going to lose at VT. It's on the road, VT has a nasty d this year (think about what their dline is going to do to this oline), VT will probably be a 9 win team and Golden can't beat teams that good. That game is a big fat L. So we would need VT to then lose 3 ACC games AND us win the rest of our ACC games. Odds of that happening? Zero percent.

somebody answer me this question....why can't we audible out of a play if the opposition has 18 guys at the line of scrimmage and no one deep in the center of the field?

Tghe Golden slurpers are doubling down.

They put their self worth into a coach, and NOT the program. Seen this before. Fester and Radio.

Their credability rests on Golden getting another year. They will be saying "**** Yous" if we go 7-5, 3rd in the Coastal IF Golden sees 2015. THAT is their validation. Golden returning. Mark my words. 7-5 or 8-4 and 3rd in the Coastal, and Golden isn't fired, they will come out talking **** like it was a 2001 season.

BTW, Terd, VT has to lose FOUR times! You forgot the Free Shoes loss, making it 3 GUARANTEED losses for us, with VT holding the tiebreaker if they casn figure out how to lose 3 games, LOL!
