The Downside Of The Portal.

So are you also saying Manny had bad guidance and or parenting??

Or did BOTH of them simply change their minds and did what was in their best interest.

Guess if it were up to you ...Manny would have to stay at Temple...and "figure it out" and become more or an adult

OF COURSE NOT

This is now the third time he’s changed his mind within 4 months, Manny never did that and it’s not just committing and decommiting he’s signed papers and has actually been on both campuses as a student athlete. 3 times in 4 months is bad guidance

You sir are the greatest of all wordsmith.I have had the pleasure of reading your words through several sites.

You have 50 11 ways of saying something more interesting than most other people can even imagine.

And you are correct sir.If you are with a woman that is cheating on her significant other( or maybe not so significant) there’s a pretty good chance she will be cheating on you as well at some point.
I appreciate those good words, my friend.

Another huge difference with the Manny situation is that Manny didn’t choose Temple over UM. Manny went with Temple because that was his only choice. This Bru McClanahan character had the option to pick Texas or USC (or countless other schools). The simps in here, in their constant fervor to be fair and balanced against UM, miss the forest through the sea of erections in their faces.

It's NOT my problem..... and I also assume.... not yours

Doesn't affect me in ANY way.....how about you??

Seriously..wake me😴.... when this actually becomes relevant to our lives

My bad the thread and conversation were about McCoy.Thought you were involved in that..
The title of this thread is "the downside of the portal". Idk if u were trying to be snarky but if so u failed miserably.

It’s like stealing some dude’s wife then getting upset when you catch her inhaling her trainer’s balls like a python swallowing a javelina.

Manny didn't change his mind. He accepted a new opportunity that wasn't available when he made his 1st choice. Manny didn't have to figure it out when he left for Temple because becoming Head Coach at Miami wasn't an option. This kid's 2 top schools the entire time were USC & Texas. In this case it's not the same situation at all.

YES

And we should have... because he was a contracted PROFESSIONAL.... so compensation is required.

The athletes as we all know are unpaid AMATEURS & per the new rules no longer contractually bound (Portal).....so no compensation is required
The portal changes absolutely nothing about their scholarship contractual agreement. The NCAA being lax on transfers having to sit out a year is what changed. The portal is merely a tool of the social media/tech era we currently live in to make every school knowledgeable on who a potential transfer is.

Chise's python I presume

All these dudes crying about 18 year old kids putting on their big boy pants, making a decision and having to stick to it. I went in the military and last time I checked, there was no getting out of that contract unless I was crying about not being able to handle that life.

I'm all for giving kids some freedom to make moves if a situation is not good for them (coaching changes, toxic environment, grad transfer, last chance to make an impact), but this **** is ridiculous. I fully supported the kid's initial transfer from USC to Texas. I do not support a second attempt to transfer back. Put on those big boy pants and get to work. If he's that great, his career shouldn't suffer at either school.

MANNY DIDN'T CHANGE HIS MIND?? 🤣WTF

So choosing one option....then selecting another one ......is not considered a change?

What difference does it make whether an option was available or not when the 1st decision was made?

A CHANGE is a CHANGE..... Even in Bizarro world

Im not going to argue with anyone who would try to deny the UNDENIABLE....nor argue about things that were never said.

Good night.

No it's not changing your mind on an initial decision when only 1 option was available when that decision was made. It's bettering yourself when a better option becomes available. Bru McCoy wasn't transferring from San Jose St to Texas. He was deciding between USC & Texas and changed his mind, then did it again. Manny wasn't choosing between Temple and Miami or any other Power 5 head coaching job. I'm not sure how your remedial *** can't grasp how the 2 are different, but you have a good night as well.

To be fair, seems like the kid probably went to USC to play for Klimt. Kliff goes to the NFL and so the kid transferred. That doesn’t seem like that random or indecisive of an initial decision.

Which is exactly why the two commandments of recruiting exist:

Commandment 1: pick a school, NOT a coach

Commandment 2: all that matters is commandment 1.

So...Manny didn't choose UM over staying at Temple?

Buyer beware. Fck Texas or anyone else who takes a kid who transfers ten minutes after signing his NLOI.

You should know what you’re getting when you sign a flake like this. It’s like stealing some dude’s wife then getting upset when you catch her inhaling her trainer’s balls like a python swallowing a javelina.

You do realize that most recruits are flakes? It comes with the age demographic. If you expect more at this age, that's on you. Were we to hold recruits and even established players to your lofty standards, there are dozens of Canes through the years that would be flakes.

I'm all for people following their given word, but be realistic in it. As another said, people change their minds, but hopefully they learn from it. It's all part of the maturation process.

Had a coach done to us what Manny did to Temple, the outrage here would reach new heights.

I get why Manny did what he did. It makes perfectly logical sense. Why this young man is doing what he's doing, I don't know. It's his life to live and while I might not necessarily agree with how wishy washy he is, it's on him. I don't hate him for it, dislike him for it, or even really care. It is what it is, but it's amusing seeing some of the takes in this thread.
