The Don is back - "I was born for this"

Duke is one of the most talented and dynamic players at the U and Sfla history.

Who you telling? I feel like I just read blasphemy lol. I watched Duke play in all but maybe 5 games throughout his high school career. Amazed in every single one. Dude is THE legend at Norland. Mind you this the same school Antonio Brown/Randy Shannon went to.

Plenty? Absolutely not.

His explosion / acceleration is up there with anyone. Top end was good but his burst was just crazy. Zero to sixty was absurd.

He was just at um at a god awful time, put him behind those early 2000’s ol and the long runs would’ve been insane. He’s also as talented as any rb ever at Miami catching the ball and running routes. Lastly his pass blocking and vision was top Shelf.

I know the last part isn’t considered physical talent but dude was super physically talented. He made high level athletes look like chumps.
i equate that to his feel in the run game..Him feeling when to hit the hole, How setup his blocks And defenders etc. all **** that can’t be measured at combine setting. My point is I’m sure there are a good number of backS who can test on par and better then duke at a combine, but those Good test results don’t show up on tape As often as a kid like duke because of his natural feel for the position in aspects that can’t measured..Don Chaney has all the physical gifts, we’ll see if has those same intangibles as a runner that made duke a beast

A legend all over..bruh his HS tape rivals gore, AP and REGGIE imo

I agree about his feel for the game but that’s isn’t acceleration , dude had some of the best acceleration I’ve seen from a Sfla rb. His top speed was good , 4.5 range but the burst is up there with anyone. He could stop and be back up to full speed again in a couple yards.

It’s sad he was wasted here but he was loyal , I’ll always have a special spot for the kid. Everyone wanted him badly but my guy put three cane hats on the table for his decision , even though he was already committed lol.

Once in a lifetime type kid.

I agree..kid would’ve gotten a NY invite if he had finished the 13 season on the pace he was on b4 FSU...I believe we run the table after That tally visit if duke doesn’t go down

No. Physically superior? Maybe. But athletic talent? No
Frank Gore has the greatest instincts and vision of any running back that I have ever seen. Gore used to put up 400 yards rushing games at Coral Gables High, and he was very special. Gore also put in the hard work. Gore isn’t big, but he was just a natural RB talent. Gore runs low and behind his pads. And Gore’s vision and running instincts are off the charts. Chaney is very different kind of RB. Chaney is bigger and could be faster, but what separates RBs is vision, balance, heart and instincts, and Gore has it all

I know we pump out NFL backs year in, year out. But there's NFL, and then there's Day 1 / Day 2 talent. And these two, Chaney and Knighton are the latter. We get Franklin, and that's a backfield that compares well to Gurley, Chubb, and Michel. There won't be any Coastal team that could stop us behind a line of guys like Walker, Big Baby and Rivers. I know I won't be sweating 3rd and 2 any more.

It will also be helpful to not give the opposing defense 20-30 seconds to adjust and predict our next playcall.

Frank pre injuries is the best I’ve seen.....the perfect rb.

Chaney is more of a Mcgahee than a Gore IMO.

Chaney look like a monster. I’ll take Bulkier version of Derrick Henry. Downhill with some wiggle.

Knighton and Chaney are getting meaningful snaps.. No doubt about it. Both are too talented to keep off the field. They will ball in this spread offense. I also like what Robert Burns showed in some flashes last year. He brings a different element the other 3 backs don’t so he has something to offer. Very happy with the RB group going into this season.

stop the “too talented to keep off the field” talk. Lingard supposedly was too, plus we aren’t giving 3-4 rbs meaningful snaps unless we have an injury or you’re talking about special teams

We will run a 2 back system (for the most part). Harris is going to be the starter, rooster will start out as the #2 guy. Chaney will still be incorporated in the offense in some way (maybe as the season goes on) because he’s too talented. But yes, some are “talented” and not “game/college” ready (like Lingard). I also think you’ll see two backs on the field at the same time, and why not? Make the defense have to account for three running options- King and two backs beside him. Robert Burns will get limited to no snaps. On Lingard, I was drinking the Lingard koolaid when we got him but now looking back at it, he is a freak athlete and not a great RB. There is a difference... I think Chaney and Knighton are great RB’s. I also want to say, Lingard blew out his knee. No one really knows what the deal was last year with Lingard and coaches (if someone does, please share) but what isn’t talked about enough is that, he did have a serious injury and it can take an extra 6 months-year for you to be fully confident after an ACL injury. He was medically cleared yes, but that doesn’t mean he was confident in his knee yet (see Derrick Rose). 2020 there are no excuses for Lingard. He should be healthy and ready to go for the gaytors.

Lingard is not Chaney or knighton, the comparisons should end there really if you are talking about anything other than speed( all 3 are very fast) . The 2 freshman rbs have Completely Different skill Sets as those 2 are more natural rbs than the gator transfer was entering Miami.
