The Disaster That Is The College Football Playoff Already

This is not a true "playoff", it's more like a "payoff".

Whichever 4 teams ranked in the top 6 at the end of the year who will draw the most fans to these "playoff" games will get the spots.

$$$ talks.

For example:

1. Alabama 12-0
2. FSU 12-0
3. Oregon 11-1
4. Miami 11-1
5. Auburn 11-1
6. Ohio State 11-1

In that scenario, it would not surprise me if Alabama, FSU, Auburn, and Ohio State are the four teams to get chosen for the "playoff".

:rollcanes: @ the thought of miami going 11-1

Well just looking at that scenario Bama and FSU would be automatic, we would never go 11-1 with FSU going 12-0, because the way the ACC is set up is that if we win that many games we play FSU twice, once in the regular season and once again in the ACC chip game. That playoff would FSU, Bama, Oregon and Ohio State plain and simple. Where the real cluster **** will begin is when we have a bunch of two loss teams, then I can see the politics getting involved.....

read what it says again....its about the final weeks rankings before conf champs. If we are #4 we are in and there you got with playing FSU 3x in a year....because the ACC is too stuborn to put us in the same conference.

My fault missed that, but even then if Miami and FSU are Miami and FSU we could both get in regardless. Like I said the SEC is overhyped but lets not act like there hasnt been anything to warrant most of that hype.........
That wasnt even his point though, his point was illustrating a potential scenario where he feels the big money schools would get in. The bottom line is that the SEC has gotten the benefit of the doubt because up until last year they won most of their non conference match ups and bowl games.

You must win your final game of the season. That should be in place too.

The four major conferences should have a 4 team playoff. The winners of each conference enter a four team playoff.

Something along these lines would keep the voting/favoritism out of college football.

ACC, SEC, Big 12, Big 10, Pac 12

There are 5 major conferences.

And unless there are 3 undefeated conference champions in there from the non SEC conferences, prepare for the SEC to have 2 of 4 playoff teams perennially.

I was thinking along the lines of SEC gets 3 playoff teams. The one remaining slot goes to some red haired step child from those other conferences. UNLESS, tv ratings get some consideration. Then the bigger market teams and conferences might get another slot, but yeah, SEC gets two every year.
