Yes, the offense was outrageous in the first half.

Yes, the defense is not close to what it was last year.

But when the game actually got close and the offense ran ICE cold (and injuries, penalties and special teams miscues mounted), the defense stepped up when it needed to, multiple times and saved the game.

This is ultimately a positive. Yes there are many negatives, like the DL being incapable of generating a rush, and the tackling. But this game fell to them in the second half, and they picked up the offense, period.

Defense stepped up big time in the second half, Wake’s OL had to hold near every play to protect their QB. We need to continue to improve our tackling though

The DL generated a ton of heat, especially in the 4th Q. I thought the tackling overall was pretty atrocious. The punt return that was called back looked like junior high school special teams tackling.

I thought the offensive play calling for most of the second half was timid and silly sometimes. I get the WR screens are treated like runs in the mind of Dawson, but when there are incompletions, the clock stops. I still question the push the interior OL generates.

Yes loads of injuries which suck. Defense stepped up when it needed to. Most importantly we got the W.

The Offense balled out in the 1st half.. the Defense balled out in the 2nd half. That’s good to see this early in the season. Our defense still has worked to do to get better but it’s not nearly as bad as the CIS propaganda making it out to be.
The injuries are the mist concerning part.

Topp 3 corners, starting 2 RBs, #1 WR , and potentially Mensah (according to some) are all injured and banged up that we know of. I have a suspicion there are a lot more too.

We got relatively lucky last year staying healthy. This year is looking like injuries have a potential to derail ****.

DL played out of their minds, stats may not show a million sacks but they were called for holding probably five or six times, including for the safety, it was great to see our edges start really generating legitimate pressure. Their run game was absolutely non existent also. Big props to the DL.

Moten and Lofton dinged up as well
