I think we crush that line. Ward and Martinez alone are game changers, but we've upgraded so much more. Mesidor coming back is huge. Barrow will help. Sam Brown is electric. I'm excited about Lofton and Patterson (pause).

Etienne went to Georgia, the other leading back Montrell Johnson just got hurt and had knee surgery (though I'm not sure whether he'll play). I know the swamp can be tough, but we beat a better UFag team the last time we took an elite squad into Gainesville, which I think is exactly what we're looking at this year. I absolutely love this line.

What do you guys think?

Ward and Martinez are 100% game changers. BUT, they have never taken a snap together against another squad. If we had 2 or 3 games to play together as a new team before playing UF I think the line would be different. I think we all expect to beat that current line, but its the first game of the season with new personell and in a hostile environment.

Game will not be easy. This Canes team looks great on paper, but there’s a long list of teams people thought would be great and it didn’t pan out. Bottom line is we don’t know how the team will actually play.

Definitely don’t like the fact the Canes are getting a fair amount of hype going into the season, while everyone’s shoveling dirt on UFag. All the pressure is on us to win the game.

Yea first game to chemistry and nerves. Could be close no matter what cause of the rivalry but we could beat them by more than ten as well. I go back and forth in my mind blowout and close game.

I took the line when it was at -3 and I'll hammer -2.5 too.

I can see us winning by 6 with holding them off late.

Or

I can see us constantly punching them in their face over and over again for 4 quarters and we win by 13+ after they score late to make the final score closer than what it really was.

Don't think I'll be able to be there in person, unfortunately. Do me a favor, though--after you tear down the goal posts, swing by Parking Lot 20 and jam one end through the windshield of the blue Lambo. Might wanna take the other one and leave it leaning against the door at Dave and Busters, too.

I think each week opponents will have to pick their poison defensively, and be committed to establishing the run offensively.

I'm curious to see Dawson's approach with personnel and alignment. CJJr., Martinez and Lofton are weapons that could be used in tandem or combinations to create mismatches; 2 capable of playing FB, 2 capable of running routes, and all 3 capable at RB.

I don't expect a lot of pre-snap movement to create favorable match-ups, but a lot will be available to Dawson.

I don’t think UF upgraded at a single position from last year outside of MAYBE LB when you look across the roster of who they signed.

QB - same
RB - now down ETN and Montrell
WR - lose Pearsall add Badger
TE - same
OL - moved guys around
DE - lost Princely
DT - added Harvard guy
LB - maybe Pup Howard is good immediately but that’s a major projection
CB - same added depth from Oregon
S - same added depth from Washington

My biggest fear is just UM being UM and completely shooting ourselves in the foot early on the road but it being a 3:30 game not a 7pm game does matter in that stadium.

UM high impact additions:
- Cam Ward QB
- Damien Martinez RB
- Sam Brown WR
- Elijah Alston DE
- Tyler Baron DE
- Simeon Barrow DT
- CJ Clark DT
- Jaylin Alderman LB
- Mish Powell S

UF high impact additions:
- Elijah Badger WR
- Brandon ****son OT
- Austin Barber OT
- Joey Slackman DT
- Trikwese Bridges CB
- Grayson Howard LB
- Asa Turner S

Most of their transfers outside of Badger are depth pieces not impact players.

My biggest worry is the redshirt WR's from UF. They have Andy Jean and Aiden Mizzell stepping up this year. If they have developed it could be a bit tougher on defending their passing game.
