If recruiting is all about resources, Georgia football did not lack in that department for the past fiscal year. According to Georgia's annual NCAA financial report, obtained by Marc Weiszer of the Athens (Ga.) Banner-Herald and detailed Monday afternoon, the football program's recruiting expenses sharply spiked from more than $1 million in the previous fiscal year.
For the most recent fiscal year — from July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2019 — the Bulldogs doled out $3.7 million in recruiting expenditures. The numbers increase after the Bulldogs had previously paced the country — by more than $250,000, no less — as the No. 1 team in recruiting expenses over SEC foe Alabama, according to USA Today.
Outside of the SEC programs, Clemson's $2.2 million and Oklahoma's $1.28 million are among the others at the top in college football's biggest spenders on recruiting initiatives. Both of those numbers are for the 2019 fiscal year.
Georgia football's support staff, which aids the Bulldogs' recruiting efforts, increased from $4.9 million to $5.6 million for the past fiscal year.
