We can't afford it?

School made 27 mil off football last year alone and has billions in assets and hundreds of millions in unrestricted funds.

The fallacy that we can't afford it is as archaic as richts offense or our last national title. It simply is a lie.

BOT members could snap their fingers from their Rolls Royce and have it done lickety split.

They were never going to be able to fire Coker, Shannon, or Golden either. It's hilarious to me people buy into this nonsense.

If Richt continues to suck he will be fired. Same as every other coach.

Did you read the post? The rebuttal is there.

If you can't read, it's not my job to read you a story because you prefer to be ignorant and lazy.
I know more about Nfp accounting rules than your post states. If they want him gone the money will be there. A contractual buy out has nothing to do with an operating budget based on revenue and expenditures.

How do you think they bought those Rolls Royces?

By not paying out money unnecessarily.

Didn’t you see our AD statement yesterday? Richt ain’t going any where. No need to talk about a buyout

Ugh. Guys. Everything about this thread is wrong.

Please read my post on University Financing.

It is nowhere remotely as simple as "having the money," nor can you look at football revenues in isolation, due to Title IX.

It's not a lie, it's how things work.

It absolutely is a lie. ~20% of our athletic department's expenses (rough estimate from 2014-2015 financials but doubt much has shifted) comes from athletically-related student aid. This is an accounting cost designed to reimburse the University for "lost tuition" related to having scholarship athletes. This is an opportunity cost, as there's no cash flow impact here. It's saying, we gave Jimmy Joe a scholarship, that's $65k in tuition we're missing out on, so refund the school for it. Housing, feeding, insuring and getting this kid school supplies doesn't cost remotely that much. Each student here on scholarship (400 or whatever the number is now) doesn't cost the school $65k in cash costs to attend annually, that's insane. It's just a way for schools to shift dollars around to make sports programs look less profitable to the public. Taking $ from one department and allocating it back to the broader University.

So no, it isn't wrong to say we have the money to buy Richt out. We may not have it allocated in our athletic budget, but the cash is there.
