The board's four favorite guys...

I vividly recall they got let go after the LSU blowout in the Peach Bowl. Coker was cooked at that time, and just bought himself a bit more time. I spoke to a few former players, they were ****ed that those two were released in the manner they were. It was a dark day at UM and the Hecht Center
They just got let go because they were the only two that no ***** given tell you exactly what it is. Doesn't matter who you are. Player, coach, etc. And yeah he was trying to buy himself time.

I spoke to a bunch of former players in regards to Sarge & Art being let go, and they're still livid about what went down.

I never liked the Coker hire(seriously, I knew what we were getting), this was a short-term solution where a long term plan was needed.

you know what Coker was? Remember the sequel to 'the Bad News Bears' ('Breaking Training) ,where they go to the Astrodome without a coach, and the guys get that old groundskeeper to act as the coach in front of the parents before they take off?

That was Coker. While guys like Ed Reed were Kelly Leak driving the van to Houston.

When I knew the program was cooked was when Soldinger ripped Ty Moss for being out of shape, and Coker admonished Soldinger for being honest. That's all you needed to know about the direction of the program at that time

Great reference.

I saw Bad News Bears Go To Japan in the theaters.

lol, thats when that series jumped the shark

Without a doubt. It was just the first time I could convince my mom to let me go.

I also saw that Leif Garrett "Skateboard" movie around the same time. I was in 5th grade.

Two of the worst movies ever made.

Butch was never crazy about how he interacted with players. That wouldn't have surprised me.
Since you said it 1st...I'll second it...Lol...As you know, Bill Miller was a super close friend of Butch...but that didn't stop Butch from firing him. Coker would've been a breeze. Shame about Bill Miller. Always liked him as a person. Certainly more personable than Monkey-Boy.

@TheOriginalCane ...me and Wifey at Tween Waters 3 days before UCLA game. Ironically, I was a Sous Chef there from 82-83.

I remember this day like it was a week ago.

We laid fat *** egg at Syracuse the week before and the media pile was unreal. Everyone said we sucked a male camel's ****.

My Dad said it was perfect timing. We would wax UCLA's *** the next week.

Went to. The Palm Beach Lakes Ale House. Whole place was Canes. I got sad at 38-21.

Exploded at 49-45.

What a ******* game.

I stood with Scott Covingtons Mom part of the 3rd qtr, and all of the 4th qtr behind the sidelines (I drove all the way from Ft. Walton Bch with Wifey (12hrs) for this one. Kinda made it a Mini Vacation. Stayed at Tween Waters 2 days, and Gables Inn for 3 days.

Yes. But his family moved there for him to play high school ball. He was not at all a spoiled kid.
