The biggest problem facing Miami…

Not all penalties are equal. The pre-snap/procedural/lack of concentration penalties will happen but need to be minimized. The aggressive penalties are more acceptable, with the understanding that if it's close, they're (especially ACC refs) gonna call it against us.

Yes, if you go to Stats > Snap counts, it shows each player penalties for the season!
McCoy, Lofton, SJ all have 4 with around 350-430 snaps.

13 non-starter penalties.
4 on Offense for non-starters:
Meriweather - 1 in 77
Pickett, Scroggins, Wheatley - all are 1 in 21-26 snaps

The defensive ones are the outliers:
#4 Pruitt with 3 in 77 snaps - Big issue here. 1 out of 25 snaps is a real problem for a kid on our 2 deep.
#91 Carter with 2 in 100 snaps - Not good
#97 Davias with 1 in 86 snaps
#11 Bonner with 1 in 94 snaps
#21 Portis with 1 in 49 snaps - Not good
#15 Jennings with 1 in 49 snaps - Not good
#23 Day with 1 in 149 snaps

Just a note on Pruitt, I believe 2-3 of his are on special teams

A perennial contradiction: The coach who demands accountability and discipline runs one of the least disciplined teams in college football in terms of penalties...
This is complete sports cliche BS. Go look at where bama was with Saban many years. There isn't much of anything a coach can do to make his players not jump offside or get caught with a hold. I mean I suppose you could bench the guy but are you really going to bench a starter become 1x every 2 games or so they false start? You going to play the inferior player 70 plays to offset that one? I'm sure Mario and the position coaches do the same stuff every other coach does. It's not rocket science

…is Miami.

#95 is unacceptable. Get that cleaned up before Notre Dame.

That's what happens when you play Young inexperienced people. They have the ability to make dumb decisions... You want discipline you stick to upperclassmen you stick to people experience not only in play but more specifically in your scheme. With the 75,000 injuries we've had this season it makes discipline pretty **** difficult to have

Some of it is also had to do with which opponent player lines up against you... if they are quicker than you, you just take a gamble and hope you don't get called for a hold...

We should have been practicing simulated snaps from the defense a third of every practice since Mario got here at the very least. **** is wild.

The pre snap stuff is more alarming than the rest. ACC refs gonna ACC otherwise
