It's incredible to see the uneasiness on this board. With the amount of posters that are still shuddering towards a Coastal team that has never been in the top 20 in recruiting, you'd think Beamer pulled a Sandusky on them. It's sad, but let me end your anxiety.

We're going to win this weekend. I can't tell you by how much, but I can guarantee you a win. The division drought ends this weekend.

Why? Our team this year has shown us a lot. First, they don't fold under pressure or when they're down. Second, they play to their opponent's level, whether that is down or up (I reflect that it's been both a positive and a negative.) Third, and most importantly, they thrive in chaos and adversity like those old school canes used to.

When the game is tight, the clock is winding down, and the stadium starts roaring. Whether it's at Doak Campbell or a pouring rain at HRS. With a lead or trailing in points. The team comes alive, and they show us something that Al's teams lacked. Grit, determination, and heart.

So I bring forth the big question. Not whether we win or lose on Saturday, but if you, as a fan, do your job and show up. Bring your family, buddies, and get ready to lose your voice. Every extra cane in that stadium is a plus to our team, our coaches, and our recruits.

You're guaranteeing a win. So, if we don't win do I get a free win to use at some other time - like ND week, or next year against FSU?

BTW, it’s passing strange that Fuente would let the Florida Job rumors go wild during Miami Week.

Jeebus.

That said, I don’t think we’ve seen this Canes’ Team’s upside. They haven’t played a complete game yet.

If there was ever a time for the canes to put together a complete game, it's this weekend. Saturday is infinitely more important than next week.

Didn't help.

This morning, on my way to work, I thought about us winning this game. Then that transitioned to beating, not upsetting, beating ND. Then I thought ****, that could pave the way to the playoff, but why stop there. Then I thought why not this team? They've shown more fight than most teams, because they've had to. Then I thought of sitting in Atlanta as the confetti drops and Malik having led us to number 6, and I just pictured myself sitting there hunched over letting out all the emotion and suffering the last 15 have brought. So yeah, this weekend is the start of our run. Why not us?

It's been awhile since i've been this hyped for a game.

I can understand why some fans are feeling uneasy about the outcome.

S.hit i'm not even that confident but I feel we're going to win also.

This team has heart and that goes a long way.

They will keep fighting all night Saturday and the crowd is going to be electric.

I was at the Georgia Tech game and when it started raining the place went crazy.

Saturday will get to a different level and that's why I feel we will win.

These kids will feed off of the fans.

I am torn about this game. At this point in the year, most teams are what they are. There's no "hiding plays", etc. - we are what we are. We are a horribly inconsistent team that can be explosive on offense and stingy on defense. We can also be the opposite. That said, seems like everyone is counting us out for this weekend - VT is riding high, coming off huge wins, we, otoh, have struggled the last few weeks and have played nail biters the past month. We are home dogs, and all the pundits are picking VT. We'll either come out our usual flat self and it will be a nail biter to the end, or, we'll have the wounded animal way of playing and smoke these guys. Sure hope it's the latter, but I think it's the latter this sat night.

Grit. That's right.

This team has been plagued by injuries at positions that were already thin. Yet, they triumphed.

The defense has played well when needed. They've given the offense all the opportunities they needed to win. The defense has been pummeled and run ragged when the offense couldn't convert 3rd down over and over again. Yet, they kept fighting and won.

The offense has, for the most part, not turned the ball over and have done away with the drive killing penalties that plagued them for 15 years now. They've hit the big plays when needed. Scored with the game on the line. Converted 4th-and-omg to win. Sure, they could have been a lot better but here they are. 7-0.

Saturday is going to be an atmosphere we haven't seen in ages. I expect UM to come out and perform. VT is a good club but they're playing on UM's turf and they're not as good as UM this year.

What huge wins is VT coming off of, other than UNC? Their past 4 games:

-Got demolished by Clemson
-13 pt win vs BC
-52 pt win vs UNC
-21 pt win vs Duke (we beat them by 25)..

Your post is exactly what Sileo is talking about. Why are you scared of them? They're good, but not that good. We have more talent and we're at home.

I'm sure it will be a close game, but that's just the reality of this team. And if its close, we expect to win. Oh, and the pundits all picked Duke and GT too. Who honestly cares?

You’re **** right!! Why not Us!

I don't think it's that Virginia Tech is some kind of powerhouse, there's just a general uneasy feeling around Miami after squeaking out a win against a UNC team that is probably the worst FBS team on the schedule. Still, I'm confident that our guys will be able to get up for this game and the stadium atmosphere on Saturday night will be a huge boost for them. I'll be there, acting a fool.

Be there from Pennsylvania with 4 other people, fill that stadium.

It's like you've been in cryogenic stasis for the last 15 years.

I'm a show me, don't tell me guy.

I'm not back at the point where I expect them to win every week. That's because I don't and haven't been given a reason to.

VT doesn't make me nervous. This team makes me nervous. With that said, I think we pull it off on Saturday. I'll be there.
