The best Miami Hurricane recruiting stories of the past 30 years , The hits , The misses . The Keith Bryant (RIP) thread

Jonathan Colon (weirdest)
Derrick Griffin (disappointing)
Stacy Coley (excellent)

Josh Jobe (all-time worst). This guy is the one I'll always say handled things the worst, by a mile. Nothing really compares. The idea of ******* over Mark Richt of all people just takes the cake for me. I literally wouldn't give this guy the time of day, which he would likely need, because I don't believe he can read.

I don't consider Jerry Jeudy, Jeremiah Smith, or Patrick JP to be stories at all. It's purely an invention of some of our pi-in-the-sky fans that any of them were even considering Miami. It wasn't a thing.
Did Josh Jobe ever make it to the league and if he did did he wash out I asked cause I don’t watch the NFL like I used to

A few of note I recall, in no particular order:
  • Denver Kirkland
  • Jacoby Brissett - Al Golden miss in Year 1
  • Dalvin Cook - submitting multiple signed pre-LOIs (back when that was a thing)
  • Tyson Campbell - Mike Rumph saga
  • Sony Michel taking the UGA bag
Jacoby Brissett is one I know very very well. I worked at Dwyer High School at the time on the side with handicap kids and became friends with their coach Jack Daniels. Charlie Weis was the OC then and wanted Brissett over Driskell. They told Jacoby that he would get a fair shot and a open competition @ UF where all his friends had gone Matt Elam, Gerald Christian ect. Well that didn't end up happening and Jacoby didn't get a fair shake and it really ****ed off Jack Daniels because he was lied to by Muschamp. Jack along with his own mom wanted him and told him they thought he should go to Miami but he really wanted to be with his friends at UF.

The JR Mounts thing was bizarre too. IIRC he committed out of nowhere, we convinced ourselves he was the second coming at RB, he enrolled early, then quit two days into spring practice in '02
JR was out of football for 4-5 years before he went to UM. He was in the minor leagues with the Whitesox and Angels before he went to t back to school.

Yup. Do you know if he ever played football anywhere else after he left?

No.

I haven’t seen in a couple years. He was living in Tampa. He must have eligibility left. He could be the linebacker we are looking for. At 45 years old he was still jacked and fast.

Most of the good ones have already been mentioned.
The Sony Michel Debacle.
Amari Cooper kinda commiting in the summer and moms saying **** no.
At the time flipping Tracy Howard was a big one.
Reggie Youngblood committing out of nowhere in 05.
Early 2000s always convincing ourselves that we had a shot at the top rated kid coming out of Lincoln Tally that year.

Latwan Anderson is the weirdest I remember.

Shannon era - 5 star guy from OH. Committed after signing day and everyone went crazy.

I might remember it wrong - but he showed up on campus and our coaches were like "we never offered or talked to him"
