The Bank (4/15)

The settlement doesn’t impact NIL opportunities. Players can still earn from outside sources. Correct?
Also, the House settlement will be challenged immediately upon the decision. Probably won’t hold up
I wish everyone on TV and media in general would highlight your point. Salary cap or not, nothing will stop NIL because the US Supreme Court has essentially written that a person cannot be restricted in their ability to earn money from their own NIL.
Maybe a salary structure will shift some NIL money to salary, but schools will still be able to exceed the cap by labeling additional money as NIL.

Yeah, imagine being a lower level program, MAC or whatever. Almost no chance of retaining better players.

Why do you think the NCAA Basketball tournament was what it was this year?

Anything below the P4, and we're heading towards that changing to the P2, is just the minor leagues for the big conferences.

Let the Creighton and Murray State's of the world take the diamonds in the rough, develop them, and if they're kids you think can help you, offer them a bunch of money and steal them.

The lower programs have zero chance at this point.

In my opinion Pena is certainly NOT the answer and would pass. He was on a team who had a tremendous QB that delivered the ball to him on time with extreme accuracy. Most likely he won't get that here. We need a killer LB, safety ,QB, and a DT who is big and mobile. Not sold at all on Carson Beck and if he can't cut we have a very talented true freshmen behind him.

Looking like the Miami dolphins wr core

For all of the, “better WRs will enter, no need for this kid” people….

Can you tell me the great impact WRs that have entered the Spring portal the last 2 cycles? Legit question.
For context, we ended up with Sam Brown last year, after being in a similar position. I liked the pickup at the time, but he underwhelmed and was not even a top 3 WR on this team. So again, give me some names of guys who entered in Spring portal that yall would have taken?

Why not both little girl smiling and shrugging dot gif
Exactly.

Nobody is advocating Pena in lieu of an outside receiver that can stretch the field. We want boffum. Now, if $$ is tight and we can’t afford two starting caliber WRs because of capital allocation concerns, then that’s a different story.

But anybody who wants to trot out Ray Ray or an unproven Toney in the slot on Day 1 vs Notre Dame over Pena is nuts. Like I said earlier, signing Pena might cost you Joseph but Toney will get developed by Beard and be the starter the following year as a true sophomore.

That’s ideal and that’s how you are suppose to stack talent. Not putting your hopes on a guy that was playing QB 6 months ago.

If you get a chance to replace part of the production lost from last year, you do it! Period.

Keon Coleman?

Miami has one guy with production coming into this year and instead of bringing in a plug and play WR who can play both inside and out they would rather ride it out with an 18 year old who played QB in HS because he flashed vs the 2s and 3s in the spring??
And herein lies another issue; I don't know how you make judgement on all these WR already on the roster given the QB situation this spring. Nickel has been in college barely 3 months and essentially got "worked into the rotation" with the 2 deep guys the last two weeks.
We have all seen EMory Williams, heard about his inconsistent performance again this spring, his unwillingness/inability to get the ball downfield. And then there's Judd, who hasnt' shown anything. How in the world do you know what you have? You can only guess on the glimpses you got..

At some point the guys that were highly rated and recruited have to get on the field.

Don’t sleep on jojo. Mario is definitely loading up on the offensive side.

He will get to the defense in 5 years. 😂
Its weird cause we've landed some highly touted guys on defense but the development jus hasnt been there as of yet. Maybe this coaching staff can extract some much needed juice on that side of the ball.

Keandre Lambert Smith was a spring entry and had nearly 1k yards and 8 TD's at Auburn. Elijah Badger went over 800 yards with a true freshman QB. Couple off the top of my head.

No doubt, that’s 1 from 2 cycles ago. Can you think of more?
Keandre Lambert Smith? I agree with your point that the resources are scarce. And it's a dangerous game to wait to see if a difference maker you're tampering with even enters the portal.

How would we define impact?

Looking at just 2024 -
Matthew Golden - Texas
Ja'Corey Brooks - Louisville (Not sure if Lacy would fit this description but he did return a kick against us lol)

The thing is the staff supposedly want an impact wr. I don’t see pena as an impact player. I agree with you on the portal and I have been saying that the portal is typically very weak in the spring.

With that I still would be willing to wait it out and see who else enters. Then if nobody else enters and if pena is still available and they feel he can help then go get him but he isn’t a guy I would just jump up and throw big money at
