The Athletic: Sam Leavitt possibly to Miami or TTU

"Recovery
You will be placed into a non-weightbearing splint immediately after surgery. This protects the bones and incisions. You should elevate the foot as much as possible to help reduce swelling and pain. Pain will typically be controlled with pain pills.

Sutures will be removed about two weeks after surgery and you will have a cast or CAM boot. No weightbearing is allowed for 6-8 weeks after surgery. A walking cast or boot is then used for another 4-6 weeks. If pins were used to hold the fourth and fifth metatarsals in place, they are removed 6-8 weeks after surgery.

Patients usually are able to wean out of the boot and into an athletic shoe in 10-12 weeks. A more rigid shoe with an arch support insert will help reduce stresses through the middle of the foot. Physical therapy may be prescribed for strengthening and improvement in function. It can take longer than one year for full recovery."

Leavitt reportedly underwent surgery in early November. So assuming Spring Practice is scheduled around the same time it was last year, he would be ~5 4 (h/t @P-Tizzle ) months out from surgery at the start of spring practice.

some additional info: "“Arizona State sophomore quarterback Sam Leavitt is unlikely to be cleared for unrestricted football activities for at least six months following Wednesday’s surgery to repair the Lisfranc ligament and improve stability in his right foot, people informed of his prognosis told Sun Devil Source,” wrote 247Sports’ Chris Karpman in November. “The best-case scenario for Leavitt would be to resume limited non-contact activities in about five or six months, with full clearance coming after some additional weeks or months.” (https://atozsports.com/nashville/vo...s-land-arizona-state-transfer-qb-sam-leavitt/)
I'm currently in a boot. It sucks. 8 total week, partial weight bearing. My pin does not come out though (1st metatarsal). It's made of something that eventually dissolves into the bone. I've been told about the carbon fiber shoe inserts to prevent too much flexing (new shows are so spongy/flexible that your joints are put under much more stress). Recovery is slow and takes months. With the money involved and number of good QBs out there, this would be my biggest concern.

If all of this is true, the kid is obviously sitting with us in the stands during the spring game. (OK- not ‘in the stands’…but not playing )

As long he gets some reps going into fall practices…I’d take him

Selfish teammate - if that's for skipping the banquet, i might have done it too. Tough situation all around. If it's more than that, i could understand the label, but what is the "more". On the flipside he donated his NIL money for jerseys and such to the collective to pay his teammates.

Wants more money than he's worth? That's literally most players these days, or at least half. We see teams bending guys over all the time. Wanting more is one thing, how you act in negotiations is another. If he's acting a fool, not his brother, that's different than his brother acting a fool and him not stepping in to control him a bit. I'm not saying it's one way or the other, but context matters significantly here as to who's the *******.

Arrogance i could possibly see. Many think that about Brady. I tried doing a deep dive on Leavitt after the rumors came out....message boards, reddit, x, everywhere. I found lots of quotes from teammates and coaches about his leadership and drive. With that, i also read he can be hard on teammates to be better. Some take that as good, some as bad. It depends how it's said/done and directed toward the other players. The other thing i saw was how he treats everything more like a business than a college team. That might rub some the wrong way as well, but the powers that be have turned CFB into a business more than a college experience or game. It's the HCs job to decide if that personality fits or is the guy he wants leading his team.

Him visiting so many schools is the puzzling part. Has he always been the #2 option for these schools, so they are playing the waiting game? Is he not signing bc he's trying to push the price up? Or is it these concerns? Time will tell.
Totally agree. So-called flaws sound reasonable attributes. College football is a huge business, players get what they can get & they’re expected to perform. Do have concerns about injury & recovery, but assume Miami staff & medical folks can judge character & health issues.

Do we know for certain the Leavitt will not be available for the spring?
There was someone on here a couple of weeks ago that is connected to the kid and said he will be fine. No idea what that means for timeline but that is what was posted.

I mean if the kid is an arrogant jerk and not the leader you need at QB - i 100% agree that you pass. Usually you see/hear about those kids well before now. So either he's good at "playing the game" and keeping that under wraps, or it's a bit overblown. Cam rubbed me the wrong way a few times early on with his on field antics. I was not all in on him. I had my concerns about Beck as well. I'm just a fan, not close enough to know the full truth about either kid.

Did anyone ever elaborate on these posts, or just a case of message board people being nutty?
Message board ppl being
Samuel L Jackson What GIF by Coming to America

Man if u don’t hit the **** button

Another important point is I think we start with 2 cupcakes in central Michigan and FCS school now that South Carolina cancelled our series.

So we may have 3 cupcakes to start the year and get in sync if he’s missing reps in spring / summer.

Maybe Im in the minority but I want my QB to be an arrogant jerk to the RIGHT people. To his own teammates and staff? No. To the media, the opponent, the opponent's fans? Absolutely. ***** them.

I was one to bring up the character concerns myself from how his exit at ASU went down.

I just trust Mario in the vetting process.

Sure he can move, but he never had 200 yards rushing in a season in college. But if you include Herbert, Verdell and Dye averaged 6.2 ypc his final season there, so I think my point still holds.
He never really had to until that 2020 post-season. He had 3 rushing CDs in the Rose Bowl vs Wisconsin, which included a 30 yarder.
