The Athletic ranked/published best 25 teams of the 2ooos today

I think the list is pretty accurate.
On the last day of the season, I think 2000 was better than 2002.

The 2002 team made three mistakes, that had they not occurred, we never know who Terry Porter was.

1. Coker replaces Mcgahee with Gore, rather than trying to save his RS.
2. ST runs out of bounds after his pick.
3. Parrish doesn’t try his pirouette after catching the pass in the OSU RZ, and fumbling.

2000 on game day had a deeper RB room, a healthy Davenport vs an injured Cobia at FB and a better WR duo.

This is interesting. I was going to respond with a theory about how Dorsey’s first full starting year in 2000 might have hampered that, but then I went and checked his stats to see if I was right. Turns out that 2000 was Dorsey’s best year, statistically (although it’s close, and pretty crazy how consistent he was).

In the end, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of those three teams. It’s the reason getting lobster tail on the side of your filet and a bottle of great wine is an option. Just appreciate it all.

Okay at least that makes me feel better about these people trying us. That makes a lot more sense although the O2 team spanks vast majority on there also. Larry Coker was our lone weakness.
Agree. Any of the 2000-2002 teams could hang with any of the other listed teams. Might not win them all, but would have made it a game.

2002 Fiesta was same as 1986 Fiesta. Make enough mistakes and it’s the any given Saturday rule.

I think if 2002 UM played 2002 OSU 10 times, UM wins it 8 out of 10 times.
