The Arch hype train is derailing already

He also played at a bad HS against **** competition that likely didn’t prepare him at all basically. He’s started rough, and ended last season good.

He’s got the athletic build and traits. The questions are Mental, Accuracy, and if he is clutch.

People can say being a Manning is the reason he is hyped, which is true…. However the hit rate on them is pretty ******* high and they understand football and offenses. If you think Arch ever gets anywhere near Peyton or even Eli mentally, and with the superior build and athleticism, well it shouldn’t be a surprise why he would be 1st overall. And if he shows some clutch traits that makes it better.

Arch Manning as a Jr and 1st time starter: 7.8 Y/A, 8.34 Adjusted Y/A, 6.4% TD%, 1.7% INT%, 61.4% Comp%, 144.9 QB Rating, 399 Rush Yds (Sacks included), 10 Rush TDs.

Eli Manning as a Jr and 2nd yr starter: 6.1 Y/A, 6.54 Adjusted Y/A, 4.4% TD%, 3.1% INT%, 58% Comp%, 125.6 QB Rating, -120 Rush Yds, 2 Rush TDS.

Peyton Manning as a Jr and 3 yr starter: 8.7 Y/A, 8.28 Adjusted Y/A, 5.3% TD%, 3.2% INT%, 63.9% Comp%, 147.7 QB Rating, -131 Rush Yds, 3 Rush TDs.

Arch is a good QB. But he’s not good enough to be the overall #1 pick. But some owner will want to make a splash with the fan base and some GM will want to retain his job, and arch will be drafted higher than warranted. And then espn will make excuses for his lack of success for about a decade.

Your takes are the same ones the experts said about Josh Allen. And Arch is comparable to Josh Allen coming out of college.

The big knock on Allen was an inaccurate arm, how did that critique work out? Arch has similar arm concerns, which will get corrected. His arm strength has been reported to be between Eli and Payton, but considered above average. Those guys were pure pocket passers, Arch is a dual threat qb, who has modeled his game after Josh, his words. Admittedly he throws with unconventional arm angles, but so do alot of rushing qbs.
Scouts have said he more than has the arm talent for tight window throws and the touch on deep balls.
Will he be as cerebral as Payton? Probably not, but he'll get smarter and make better reads.

He's 6'4", 220 lbs, 4.6 speed. Projection and potential is the name of the NFL game. If I'm Jon Sullivan, I drafting him #1.
Your logic is ‘player A has similar flaws as player B, and player B became an NFL star, so therefore player A shall (‘will be corrected’) follow that path.’

Player A also has similar flaws to many players who underwhelmed or outright busted out.

So, we’ll see. For the record, I’m not calling him a bust. I’m telling you what I’ve watched. You’re telling me what you speculate might happen going forward.

You’re also doing it while telling people they don’t know what they’re looking at, which is ironic.

No, I would say JJ McCarthy. Does (or tries to do) the little things right. Tries to focus on proper mechanics & going through progressions but just doesn't have a natural feel for the game. I liken it to people who study well & generally get good grades but are poor testers.

Can't just look at stats comparing them with the way the rules are today. Peyton's QB rating would be ranked in the 30s last year while that number was top 13th his senior year.

Eyeball test says he is nowhere close to the other 2 and I think Eli has always been overrated.

Arch is a stud.

He’s big as ****, he runs for 60-yard TDs and he can throw.

He dealt with unprecedented media noise, played behind a horrible OL, didn’t complain and still finished strong.

He’s not a finished product and he has a lot of work to do as a passer. But I’d rather have a tough gamer with big tools than a polished player with no upside.

I’ll take the Arch stock anybody wants to sell.

So Gunner Stockton or Cade Klubnik? That's his ceiling to me. Certainly not a bad QB, but probably not one worth investing a lot of resources & effort into as well.

Here's another trophy.

Okay Eli has been overrated, but he was still the number 1 pick and has 2 Super Bowl rings cause he played well in the playoffs…

Peyton was 33rd in TD%, 37th in INT%, 10th in Y/A, 14th in Adjusted Y/A, and 7th in Qb Rating. Though maybe if you remove a couple players that didn’t start entire seasons some of that improves. But funny - you know who had the best QB rating that season? Steve Sarkisian lol.

Arch was 28th in TD%, 25th in INt%, 42nd in Y/A, 29th in Adjusted Y/A, 42nd in QB Rating.

Peyton was a 3rd yr starter vs Arch a 1st time starter. Arch had significantly better rush production, better relative TD/Int ratio, and worse in yards+Rating….

Arch looked pretty good to me at the end of last season. Won't be surprised if he stays in school another year. Doesn't need the money

I don’t know I like Arch. I think the issue is he was overhype coming out of high school and the lack of development by Sark. He is light years better than Sayin. I don’t think Sayin is good at all personally

Arch is blessed and cursed by his last name. I watch his games and see a guy trying to play up to a very high standard, an almost unfair standard and is pressing too hard at times. I also see a prototype NFL qb for today's game, who can make all the throws, is a threat to run, and can lead a team. Will he play up to the standard people are holding him to? Idk, that's the speculation and that's the gamble all GMs will have to make. If he has a good year, he's going #1. And we'll know soon enough and can revisit this thread.

But if people can't see he checks a lot of the boxes for an NFL qb, then yeah, people don't know what they're looking at. Simple

Maybe he'll be great this year but he has done absolutely nothing up to this point that would warrant being a preseason Heisman candidate and potential #1 pick other than having the last name Manning. If his name was Arch McDonald he wouldn't even be on anybody's radar.

Have we though?

I do not see the correlation what so ever lol.

Mensah has actually done ****
Yes. There is an entire thread on Mario on Joe Rose, the QB portal and Mensah's 2 years of eligibility.

No correlation between 2 top projected QBs, both playing for teams with playoff potential, both with eligibility beyond this year?

Nope. Totally beyond comparison. I am sure the stats between the 2 are totally different, separated by a whopping 1 INT and 1 Total TD last season...

To be fair, those three things, the intangibles, are what make a quality QB. You can big and fast with a strong arm, but that won't get you too far withoug the less measurable attributes (eg Judd, Jacurri Brown, et al).

As you say, if he ever gets anywhere near Peyton or Eli mentally, with the physical tools he has, he could be a Hall of Famer.
