Al Golden is the reason why fit is so important. Remember that in the Big Ten every game mostly has a trophy and nine win seasons are very often celebrated so is very average football. Miami's biggest requirement for a head coach is NFL pedigree with a no-nonsense mentality. Prior head-coaching experience should always be required as should a conference championship. Winning the lower tier conference provides proof that you can finish and win the big game. Part of what makes Butch Davis so attractive to so many on here is that he can identify and coach up NFL talent with coaches and players. Reason the NFL experience is so important is because the NFL is a bottom line business and if you bring that mentality to a college job development will be very smooth. The depth part of your recruiting needs to also come from South Florida the second and third stringer need to be the second and third best players on the high school team that people don't recognize. Also as an athletic director during the interview process your job should be to sell the job to the Candidate not the candidate just sell you on why they should have the job. Since we are essentially getting a new stadium next year along with the facility upgrades that are already in place this job is a lot more desirable than it used to be. Just has never been marketed that way!
