"The Alliance"

I think it was in another article that says it’s not an SEC boycott so Clemson would continue to play S Carolina and UGA vs GT and so on.

I do agree though it gets harder for us to schedule UF when our 4 OCC games already include 1 PAC-12 and 1 Big 10 school.
I don’t agree with that decision from a business perspective. Either cut them off completely or don’t even bother. It’s the only way moving forward to truly compete.

Watching Packer & Durham this morning. They have spent a lot of the broadcast having guests come on and talk about this situation. I'll try to put a brief recap together here in a bit. Bottom line I took away is there are others in the background involved in this, advising the current Big 10, Pac 12 and ACC commissioners, who have ties/allegiances to schools in the ACC. One is former Big 10 commissioner Jim Delaney and the other is a former ESPN President John Skipper, who is an alumni of UNC.

One of the biggest hurdles to the scheduling issue is the number of conference games AND the fact that so many OOC games are scheduled for a decade out. Games can always be cancelled , of course, for a price.

In addition to hitting Miami for the home games like always you telling me I get to add some cool road game locations.

Miami @ USC
Miami @ Oregon
Miami @ Arizona State (Party Chicks)
Miami @ Utah
Miami @Washington

that’s lit. I can hit LA, the Bay, SLC, and Seattle! Sign me up.

Then I go home see family and watch
Miami @ Michigan
Miami @ Michigan State
Miami @ Penn State
Miami @ Ohio State
Miami @ Nebraska
Miami @ Northwestern
Miami @ Wisconsin.

Man these next few years about to be lit.

can go visit Chicago, Minneapolis, metro Detroit, Columbus, even NY metro area for Rutgers…..

sign me up

From a business perspective how does the SEC survive? We have completely cut off their resources when it comes to big time OOC games minus Notre dame (depending upon what they decide to do), BYU, and the AAC? This alliance is going to rule September with Marquee games and if they were smart they would also sprinkle some monster OOC games late in year. This is a very cut throat move and I couldn’t be happier to see them tell the SEC to go F themselves
The SEC doesn't need to play OOC games. For example, Bama can play the following teams on an annual basis:
UGA
UF
LSU
Texas
Texas A&M
Oklahoma
Auburn (forgot about them)

That's 6 top 25 caliber teams on the schedule alone.

They rapidly expand by adding Group of 5 and other Big 12 schools. And they continue to try to poach as many of the big three conference schools as possible - now. Tell them this is their now or never moment. Once they get up to 32 teams, they wall off from everyone else, rebrand as the Super Elite Confetence, and have their own college NFL with ESPN possessing exclusive rights.

All this does is accelerate the SEC timetable.

So you think they will expand to more conference games?

Are we talking pre-season Top25 rankings and, as they only face other 'ranked' SEC teams, they'll only drop one or two places on a loss?

I say **** em. Let them play themselves and whatever G5 team that wants to prostrate itself in-front of the all-powerful SEC.

Isolate the insular *****. They wanted their greedy cake - let them play each other forever.

Got to fix the Playoffs tho.

UGA: Kirby will be fired in two years so they’ll take a hit
UF: Mullet will bounce to the NFL
LSU: See UGA
Texas: Name only…haven’t done much despite multiple coaches
A&M: Concede as quality opponent
Oklahoma: Will be surprised if Riley is still there since the NFL will come knocking and try and recreate the Cardinals success

Alliance looks great til you read the fine print

some examples of current OOC games. Sure the numbers are low for available slots. Drop the ******* cupcakes. Yeah if will cost some $ and won’t be easy but nothing worth doing usually is

clemson’s 2023 OOC
Wofford
FAU
USCe
Notra Dame

Vt 2026 OOC
VMI
Old Dominion
Byu
Maryland

Either way those teams have been consistently ranked in the top 40 the past 10 years. And, the media considered them as marquee teams.

Espn is obsessed with bama and the sec
They basically overpaid to get the SEC from CBS IMO. This aint the SEC from 5-6 years ago where you had competitive games every Saturday no matter who was playing. Some of the marquee games last year were a joke. (UGA vs UF comes to mind)

CBS heads were looking at those Saturday games where Bama would be up 35-0 at the half against every team in the SEC and realized spending all that money to keep them wasnt worth it to outbid ESPN.

They'll make up money quick by scheduling quality opponents.
