The ACC Championship is meaningless. It’s really pointless right now.

It’s not a bad point or thought at all. I said all off-season we need to make the playoff. You do that by winning the ACC, of course. But you just have to make the playoffs or the season is a failure.

All OP is saying is win the next 6. If we do and we make Charlotte, great. If we do and we don’t make Charlotte, who cares, because we’re in the playoff without having to play a 13th game.

Makes sense to me. I want to win the ACC just because we haven’t. But at the end of the day playing in the playoff is where we want to and need to be. 11-1 gets you there and it’s not even a discussion. Just go win next week and keep doing it.

Miami will be ranked somewhere between 6-11 today, so if they win out, they will 100% be in the CFP regardless of making it to the ACC title game. So calling the OP completely delusional is an odd take. If anything, losing the ACC title game could knock Miami out.

I want Miami to win the ACC championship, but I get the OP's point

Agreed. Two things can be true at once. Yes, we should want to make the ACC championship game and win this god**** conference finally, but it’s also true that it’s an easier path just to win out because we would get in for sure. Get to the ACC championship game and lose, we’d be out.

OPs scenario a real possibility because none of the three teams still undefeated in the ACC play each other.

Waiting for the first poster to say they don’t want to back door their way into the playoff like that.

Now that a conference title isn’t an auto bye they just pick the top 4 for the bye straight up. Before you win your conference and you get a bye. So it’s no extra game. Now you can still win it, play the extra game and not get the bye. Not sure what to think.

I hope we have this problem

An ACC championship is not meaningless especially since we’ve never won one. Sure, there are advantages and disadvantages either way but I’d love to see us win one.

Disclaimer: If this does not become reality. This will be one of the most disappointing season ever. This should be a layup for Mario.

The ACC Championship Game means absolutely nothing for Miami right now.

Myself included, everyone keeps scoreboard-watching, hoping certain ACC teams lose. When i thought about it, that’s pointless. We don’t need help. We don’t even need to be in the ACC title game.

With the 12-team playoff era, conference titles don’t hold the same weight they used to. If we win out, we’re likely landing somewhere in the Top 5 in the polls, maybe even Top 3 depending on how the season shakes out. I don’t see a world where a Top 5 team gets left out of the playoff picture, especially if the team that beat us (Louisville) goes on to play in the ACC Championship game. That actually strengthens our résumé, not weakens it.

And honestly, the football gods have finally smiled on us because the SEC’s greed is coming back to bite them. They wanted all the power, all the TV money, all the playoff control and now they’re cannibalizing each other week after week.

So the real question is:

1. Why play an extra game if you don’t have to?

2. Why risk injuries or another loss before the playoffs?

At this point, chasing an ACC title feels like chasing validation that we don’t need anymore. What’s the point of playing the extra game?

Sometimes, the smartest move is to play the long game. Mario has an easy path to the playoffs so no excuses.
Competitive players (the kind who are willing to do the work it takes to consistently win) tend to like playing for championships. HS, Conference, Poker, Uno and every other variety.

One piece of valid criticism coaches use against Miami that we have zero rebuttal for - “they can’t even win their conference. How are they going to win a championship?”

Plus, limping into the playoffs based on luck isn’t exactly a recipe for success with an undisciplined team/ program. so yeah - the ACC matters

Would we be limping in if we won our final 6 games?

Glass half full - We still control our own destiny for the CFP

Glass half empty - You just drank half of your copium and its only half way through the season.

Reading between the lines...what I really hear people saying is "Thank God we don't have to play Georgia Tech"

Getting ahead of yourself here. November is coming. What will be the next cope for a 2 or 3 loss Miami team? Let’s win the toilet bowl and build momentum for next year?

All these conference championships will be a thing of the past shortly. They are meaningless and just provide for a (fill in the blank) to make the playoffs. Top 12 teams get in the playoffs and **** the rest.

First bowl games don't mean anything, now conference championships dont mean anything. What will CIS come up with next!? FIND OUT NEXT TIME ON DRAGON BALLLLL ZZZZZZ

I have. a hotel in Charlotte booked. guess Im going to cancel that now bc I dont think we make that

Sooooo much football left to be played, but 2 thoughts:

1. If the Canes finish 11-1, what are the odds that won't be enough to get in the ACC Championship?

2. If the Canes finish 11-1 and don't get to play in the ACC Championship, is anyone 100% convinced they don't put in a 2 loss SEC team over the Canes?

2 ACC teams made it last year and the same will happen this year.

Only advantage to winning the ACC game is a 1st round bye.
If you lose that game you may be knocked out of the playoffs, maybe that’s your 2nd or 3rd lost.
