The ACC Championship is meaningless. It’s really pointless right now.

Disclaimer: If this does not become reality. This will be one of the most disappointing season ever. This should be a layup for Mario.

The ACC Championship Game means absolutely nothing for Miami right now.

Myself included, everyone keeps scoreboard-watching, hoping certain ACC teams lose. When i thought about it, that’s pointless. We don’t need help. We don’t even need to be in the ACC title game.

With the 12-team playoff era, conference titles don’t hold the same weight they used to. If we win out, we’re likely landing somewhere in the Top 5 in the polls, maybe even Top 3 depending on how the season shakes out. I don’t see a world where a Top 5 team gets left out of the playoff picture, especially if the team that beat us (Louisville) goes on to play in the ACC Championship game. That actually strengthens our résumé, not weakens it.

And honestly, the football gods have finally smiled on us because the SEC’s greed is coming back to bite them. They wanted all the power, all the TV money, all the playoff control and now they’re cannibalizing each other week after week.

So the real question is:

1. Why play an extra game if you don’t have to?

2. Why risk injuries or another loss before the playoffs?

At this point, chasing an ACC title feels like chasing validation that we don’t need anymore. What’s the point of playing the extra game?

Sometimes, the smartest move is to play the long game. Mario has an easy path to the playoffs so no excuses.

Yes, if we win out we will be in the playoff, even if we don't play in the ACCCG. Our goal should be to get the ACCCG and win it, because that's what good teams do, and it's embarrassing that we have never won this trash
bag conference.
I agree, but I also question whether we should play an extra game. OSU caught a break because they were the most rested. I wonder if that plays a role.

But I also would love an ACC championship but if not being in and getting a playoff spot, I am cool with that

Absolutely, but OP has a point - conference championships don't mean anything as long as you still qualify for the playoffs. A 1 loss Miami team definitely makes it in.

Not saying we are Ohio State (they are a much more well-established program), but their not making the conference game didn't hurt them last year.

Right now, the ACC might only get one team in so you’re completely delusional

We’re getting way ahead of ourselves because we need to actually win all these games.

Get to 11-1 and let the chips fall where they may, we may still not make the ACCCG but we’d 100% be in the playoffs.

10-2 and we’re likely out.
11-1 we are in 100% anyone on here saying other wise is trolling.
We are probably a top 4 seed

I think 10-2 we are 90% in based off last years rankings results but don't want to be on bubble

Miami will be ranked somewhere between 6-11 today, so if they win out, they will 100% be in the CFP regardless of making it to the ACC title game. So calling the OP completely delusional is an odd take. If anything, losing the ACC title game could knock Miami out.

I want Miami to win the ACC championship, but I get the OP's point

Lma as of now they will put 5 SEC and 4 B1G teams in and that’s 9. Big 12 and ACC champs is 11 and then likely USF/p4. If we win out we could take that 5th spot away from the SEC, but it ain’t a given

Who is this 4th Big 10 team that everyone expects to make the playoff? Right now that would have to be USC who just lost their 2nd game.

There’s a zero percent chance they make it over an 11-1 Miami, they have no quality wins and only Oregon left for a potential one, and that would only help us because Oregon would drop more.

The SEC will take care of itself, and we would likely only be behind the conference winner if we won out, maybe the 2nd place finisher if it’s like a close UGA-Bama game with UGA winning.
