If he gets into UNC Kenan Flager then that is 100% where he needs to go if he wants to work in finance. Kelley at Indy is number 2 pretty close behind. Miamis is very good, but not in the same category as the other 2. I don't even know the name of UGAs business school and I have never met someone with a degree from UGA that has a high powered finance job.

Price at UM is about exact same as OOS at UNC. Also, UNC OOS is almost ivy league percentile wise admittance, insane. I can help though.

If he wants to get into UNC grad, don't go to UNC undergrad. Trust me. Pharmacology and bio med being the exceptions.

Edit, with the bio med half the time at Duke.

Thank you I promise you alone in south Florida if you threw degrees from all major schools on the table um holds more weight .. again depends what you major in if you study in the arts of ******* dance then god bless you

Exactly. They act like an interviewer is going say "I really like you, but the US News rankings just came out so I need to check them really quick to make sure Miami is still in the top 50.... Sorry to inform you Miami just missed the top 50 this year so you don't get the job. If you applied last year you would have gotten it." Recruiting rankings matter ONLY because a lot of smart young kids will just pick the highest rated school that they get into which ends up allowing that school to shine when those kids graduate and ball out at their future jobs.
 
But for Cane1775 on UNC, and you know me, and I know you are UNC bball fan, you an OG too, if he goes to UNC OOS, get him to apply for the international studies. They paid my oldest $26k for a semester in Australia. UNC network is HUGE. The intern opps they have and offer are unreal. Blew my mind

KF is definitely top notch. I've heard getting admitted though is extremely difficult, hence me saying that it's tough. He loved his IU visit also. I actually think IU is his number one choice but he's a little nervous about the distance (his uncle did work there but now he's at Kentucky so no family whatsoever). He already qualifies for direct admit at Kelley so now it's just about how much money we can get. MY top two are definitely UNC and IU. Amazingly enough I think his top two are IU and UGA. The Terry (UGA) tour was pretty impressive, but like you, the people that I talked to (family that works in the field) all have said they don't really know anyone that went to UGA. Pretty exciting times. Thanks for the info!!

That's waht i'm talking about! We need to talk soon. Clarification though. I'm basically a CBB fan overall. I don't have a favorite team (grew up in the 80's loving Syracuse and hating Georgetown!), although I do root for UNC and always root against Duke with the exception of when they play the Cinderellas in the titlr game (for some reason I don't want Cinderellas to win LOL). My friend's kid is a sophomore on the UNC hoops team so I rooted for them much harder last year and the year before when I knew that's who he was going to commit to. I feel like we need to start our own thread on business schools!!

No problem. Feel free to message me if you have any questions. Make sure if you do not get a direct admit to one of the business schools that you follow EXACTLY what you need to do fresh and soph year in order to make it in. If you end up having a business degree from the regular college(like a non BBA/BSBA economics degree) it will be essentially useless for any good entry level job. Also, keep in only one or 2 of the Ivys actually offer a degree in finance. Most of the IB or PE guys that graduate from Ivys have some type of economics degree. So if he plans to go to an Ivy for his graduate school directly out of undergrad keep that in mind. The most important advice I can give you though is GET AN INTERNSHIP ASAP. I am talking about if you can get a short one during winter break freshman year take it, but at minimum get one during the summer after freshman year. Internships set them apart from the other kids. All of the Ivy kids I have seen apply all had very impressive internships during their time in college. Also, obviously get a great GPA. A 3.8 at UGA looks better then a 2.0 at UNC.

Thanks. That's one thing that they pushed on our b-school tours; the importance of internships. I'm definitely on top of that. With regards to direct admit, that's one of the things with KF that we're concerned about as well. It's apparently difficult enough to get in UNC OOS, but then to qualify for AAP seems to be even more difficult. With Kelley, we know we qualify direct admit. Will definitely hit you up soon.

Call up their business school and ask what the criteria is to get into the business school once you enrolled. Often times it is just something like having a 3.3 average with a 3.5 in business school classes. Or something like that. If that is the case it is worth it to take the chance in my opinion. Just an utterly stupid comment.

The only thing UM football doesn't do is use a sliding scale. We lose virtually no worthwhile recruits b/c of this but do utilize the success of the school steadily rising in the rankings as a significant part of a recruiting pitch.
