The 2026 Race to 300

247 composite updated today after changes to Rivals and ESPN this week (247 still has their final update to come, I believe)

Anyway, we moved up to the number 9 class. 285.47 total. 91.27 average.
We should move a bit more as well when 247 makes their final update.

We had some big movers in their last update so I’m not sure how much we’ll have in the final one, main thing that could help is a big jump from Sainteus. He’s currently still a low 3 star on 247, if he jumps it could shake things up.

Indiana really put a damper on these guys’ beloved blue chip ratio. I bet more dollars are put towards re ranking the transfers

Stancil, Dunnigan and Paris are just a couple of spots outside the top 100. Players ranked as 5 stars and top 100 get additional points. Also, Charles will move up a bit as well.

247 seems to be rolling out updates now, not sure if it’s done but looks like we had a lot of guys drop 1-5 spots. Cantwell moved up from 7 to 6, and Charles did jump from 115 to 89. Stancil fell from 72 to 94.

Chukwurah did get a fourth star from 247.

Here’s a look at the rankings from the last 3 updates for anyone interested. It’s not reflected in composite rankings for individuals or team rankings yet.

Also just noticed they dropped Redding from a 4 star, number 24 safety in the country to an 88, number 44 safety in the country. The Jonesboro kids are wildly disrespected in these rankings imo.

JJ is going to be a problem. That is 5 star S film if I ever seen one, has the size, twitch, frame, speed, short area burst you look for. Better prospect than any we have in that room imo. And Charles as well, these guys are going to be insanely good. Wingo as well looks to have that short area shot out of a rocket burst.

Think JJ is our future at nickel.

Outside of that, he has everything you want in a nickel in Heatherman’s system, no?
I have not watched any tape on any of the class. If he is 6'2-6-4 and runs sub 11.0 I'd like to see him utilized at safety. Hopefully he can be what Bubba Bolden was supposed to be. I think Thornton is our nickel for next season.

Definitely some gray area both this season in the youngins as far as position goes. Obviously they'll cross train

Fitz- S/Nickle (I really think he settles in safety, but gonna include since he played some nickle last year)

Hampton - I really think both of these guys have the best nickle traits of the upperclassmen the way we use it. I also think they are intertwined in that one will simply start at safety, obviously they may want to keep Poyser right where he is. S/Nickle
Poyser

Hussey S/Nickle
Redding S/Nickle
Dunnegan S/Nickle

Jennings CB/S

Portis CB/S/Nicle

Mack CB/Nickle
Ewald CB/Nickle
Brown CB/Nickle (Rumor is he just wasn't interested in moving? No idea if true)

I think all the other DB…the 3 upperclassmen corners, Wyman, Waters, Antone, Day are all kinds locked in to one poition. Poyser/Fitz may be as well in the coaches mind, but listing must because we have the open spot and they have versatility skill sets.

I don’t think Dunnigan is anything close to 6’4 though? He is listed at what 6’2? So he probably isn’t even 6’1, which is obviously fine.

You obviously haven’t seen any pictures of him.
