The 2026 Race to 300

Race to 300 isn’t the same anymore. Race to 300 was predicated on the general idea that each school would take around 25 kids. Getting to 300 with 30 commits isn’t nearly the same quality as getting to 300 with 23-27 commits.

The more commits you have the less value for points you get per commit. As many commits we have now its going to take a top 50 commit to really move the needle.

We are recruiting over them as it is. I also don’t believe in the lower rated OL. The one kid should be a PWO at best.
But PWOs and WOs aren’t a thing anymore. It’s just a max of 115 scholarship players. Naturally guys who wouldn’t be scholly players are getting them now.

Bacon does look like a drop candidate; however, given Mario’s investment into Alabama recruiting, I am unsure if he would be willing to drop a player from a powerhouse program—Hoover.

Evans makes logical sense if Miami picks up Lopez. I assume Chance, Ray-Ray, & Carr will likely portal out.

We know Pickett isn’t getting dropped. Mallory is having a good senior year. It’ll be interesting to see how many we take. I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up at 31-33.

Correct. Adding a 5-star when he's your 10th commit rockets your class total WAY higher than when he's your 29th commit.

300 is still an excellent mark for an elite class.

There are still only 2 schools in the country over 300 (although Bama is at 299)

I don't think Bacon is a drop candidate at all. The staff loves him and he has a lot of buzz in the Southeast.

He had a great start to this season, got hurt, and just came back against Central (Daylyn Upshaw and Cam Coleman's old school) looking healthy.

Why is Bacon a drop candidate? He was out for 2 months. Kid has quicks for his size and staff likes him a lot. He has a lot of big offers that are legit.

Him being from Hoover made it unlikely in my view.

My speculative comment had less to do with Bacon himself and more to do with the fact that the recent commits: Stancil, Chukwurah, and Sainteus are all big bodied linemen; with Logan Nagle still being pursued.

By all means, the more the merrier. D$ gave new info on Bacon beasting that I didn’t know about.

It is just rare for no one to be affected by an influx of close to ESD commits. We are at 28 commits right now.

Bacon is same size and body type as these guys give or take. He is legit, my daughter goes to Hoover. He was very good first 3 games until he went down, even flashed against Kolejay, Pepe and IMG. Seems like we are heavy in the game with the 6'4" types that can do a little bit of everything across the line, Armondo Blount comes to mind.

With 105 schollies now and no limits on class size or using numbers forward to backwards, we can take 30+ easily.

Agreed; I expect us to take around 32-33 this year. But seems like 38-39 would be too many.

Good to know on Bacon; and yeah we need a lot of those body types this cycle after being lite on them last cycle.

280.43 with 30 commits post ratings changes as of today. #10 class up roughly 5 points over #11 Michigan.
91.08 Avg ranking (13th among all teams by that metric)
1 5 star, 19 stars, 10 3 stars.
I'm a star ***** so all of this matters, But when I look at what we got out of OJ, Malachi and others who were not elite ranked recruits, I will once again default to this staff when it comes to recruiting/evaluations.
