1. I think Perry is the answer to solve problem #1. 4TD/0 Int against even a weak FSU team is still elite. Looks like we found the answer here as he is a big improvement over Rosier.

2. This one is trickier. Part of the problem is that in 2015, Fat Al(and just about everybody else) knew he was going to get fired and as such had a hard time putting together what is today's senior class. I remember him flying around the nation looking for O-lineman because his excuse was that SoFla didn't have that many prospects at the time. In 2015 we technically signed 7 offensive lineman although Kendrick Norton ended up playing defense. Of those signees Gauthier has been the best and ST. Louis has been serviceable but the rest are not UM caliber.

Our biggest problem is at both tackle positions. Hopefully Scaife learns quick and maybe in the future Herbert can actually contribute.
Otherwise hope we sign Evan Neal and get Tarquin healthy because without serviceable tackles we will struggle against elite pass rushing defensive ends like Burns.

OL is definitely a major issue. We havent had elite OL play around here in 10-15 years.

ST is also a joke, which makes absolutely no sense for a team like Miami. A stronger OL would help us here as well.

Disagree.

OL and Special Teams. Not even close.

Agree. O-Line is going to get better as the season wears on and next year with an infusion of talent. I think we get Neal, he is a day one starter here, at Alabaga, not so much. But Special Teams? Without focus and dedication they are not going to get better. Under Rick they have regressed in the last 3 years.

3 Biggest Problems for this team

1 Jon Richt as QB coach
2 Mark Richt as play caller
3 Special Teams

The sniper just ain't good at it. We don't even need a dedicated coach, just someone who knows what they're doing.

I think Pagano for example was our DB and ST coach, and we were absolutely elite in that phase.

Perry had a wake up call yesterday but still capaitalized with short fields. Def looked uncomfortable all game and the OL def played a part. He did miss some open throws but made some nice ones too. He will get better as he goes on and FSU will be the best d and most athletic d he faces all year.

Special teams is a disaster and OL as well. Hartley needs to be taken off special teams and Miami needs to go out and find a new punter cuz these two guys aren’t the answer. Not sure what the **** happened on that chip shot by Baxa but my confidence with his has diminished.

It’s OL and Special Teams abs that’s not even a discussion. You could argue that with a competent ST unit we win this game by 2-3 scores and maybe even the LSU game.

With the athletes we get, ST should be what we thrive on.... it should be Part B of our energizer with our D.
I think that's the problem - look at the guys running down the field, we don't put our best athletes out there on STs.

Richt and co seem to use it as a way to sneak sub-par bench players into the game.

My guess it that even with this tactic, as our roster gets deeper our STs will improve.

Obviously this ignores the fact that our Punters suck.

I see the OL is the whole problem on offense. When they play a lesser team that doesn't have a dominating DL they look like they can get the job done. When we played LSU and FSU's big DL they couldn't do anything other than slow down the pass rush and provide limited holes for running backs. Forget play calling when you can't protect constantly or block very well constantly for long drives without our Defense turnovers putting us in good field position.

Richt calls plays as if he still in the traditional SEC. We need to be more creative on offense. No reason why we become so stagnant on offense at times. We need to average 40 against ACC teams this year. The ACC is down this n if dnt run the table against this regular season schedule we r underachieving.

St. Louis is absolute trash .. along with Mahoney and Jones

and that's the problem. All of those players are part of that 2015 recruiting class. We just have to recruit our way out of this problem in an area that is not exactly known for producing top flight O-Lineman. They have to hit their recruiting targets or else we are in big trouble.

OL time is our biggest problem. Get Mahoney and Jones out of there, put Scaife at RT sliding Donaldson inside to RG and put in either Boulware at LG or Reed. When we play with this lineup we can move the ball and control the pocket. It wasn’t by accident that Perry had more time to throw when those guys came in on the line. Then I would absolutely either hire a ST coach or find someone else on the staff to do it. Hartley is an elite recruiter and good TE coach but sucks ball sacks at ST coordinator.
