That was not targeting on the Cater breakup

according to the NCAA website where you can find the rules. it was

"Football referees will now stop games to immediately review when players are penalized and face ejection for targeting defenseless opponents above the shoulders or using the crown of the helmet to contact an opponent. This new review process will only impact games that have instant replay capability."

you see, targeting isn't just helmet to helmet. its ANY body part, at a defenseless player above the shoulders.

That's what I was telling people in the stands. Targeting has an expanded definition. They think it means helmet initiated but that is not the case.

It should be a minor hint when the official emphasizes "confirmed" instead of merely a weak "stands"

He may have saved the game with that hit. If it were a TD, who knows...
We will always get F'd with on-the-edge subjective calls like that, our opponents will always get the benefit of doubt. Welcome to UM football.

Receiver dropped the pass BEFORE the hit.
It was an obvious targeting call the way he hit hit, even though he tried to back off.
Unintentional, but dangerous hit. If that was Jordan we all would have lost our ****.

It was such garbage. A bang-bang play like that, it only happened because the receiver ducked his head at the last second, nothing Carter could do by that point.

Correct and the knucklehead commentators were saying you have to go lower, but he's aiming for the ball, to dislodge, which is waist-chest height. When the reciever ducks head down into that zone, WTF is Carter supposed to do in that millisecond he's closing in? Total BS call, were it VT (like last game) or Vag "targeting" us, you already know they would have waved it off.

That should have been overturned horrific call. That was a hard, clean pass break up....
Book says targeting, it was targeting.

The call has way too many 'ifs' and everyone knows it.

That call is screwed up waayyy too often. It's not nearly as bad as the pass interference call, but it's getting there.

Let's pretend for a moment that it was indeed targeting. So difficult to call in that situation as offensive players tend to duck their heads there. Wish there was a "non-ejection" targeting call. An in between for plays like the one last night. If ref is compelled to call targeting there then it could be a flag, but not enough to get the player sent off. For what it's worth, I loved the hit and am not sure that Carter could have done anything differently. He doesn't go hard there, and it's 6 points

Above the shoulder! You telling me the majority of the Force was above the shoulder? Watch number 8 not play for 4-8 weeks due to a shoulder injury. No concussion. Yes the helmets hit but that was 90% shoulder to shoulder and 10% helmet to helmet.
