Of all the things you could predict, what in the world would make you think it will be a physical battle? If it were measured, we'd be near the botton on a physical measure. We can't even tackle.
He's watching games on youtube from the 80's.

howdy folks! As an NC State fan I just hope it’s a good game and nobody gets hurt, no matter what the score is! I wanted to come on down and watch (and take in some of that sunshine and bikini bottoms y’all have, and that Liberty City is a good all American name and surely worth a visit) but it’s harvest time here at the General Jackson farm, so it’s no go. Lookin at some of y‘alls home crowds makes me wonder if it’s harvest time in Miami, too. Or maybe they play that game with scoops - Hide A Lie? - at the same time and it cuts into the attendance?

and don’t be thinking we at State don‘t respect Miami. We do. That fat kid who helped Rudy pass the book learnin at Notre Dame, where did he go? Miami law school, that’s where. And that smart cave man a few years back who got unfroze and went to law school? Miami, too. That’s no coincidence.

anyway, like that man in Hamlet who got stabbed says, brevity is the soul of wit, so that’s all I got. Good luck to you tonight, especially that quarterback of yours. A real game chicken! M-O-O-N spells, “hope you can run fast,” laws, yes.
You’re not a hillbilly bro. You’re in Cary, Apex or one of those nice parts of RDU which are plenty cosmopolitan, nice and highly educated.

Manny is on the hottest seat in the country, and for good reason. Our defense lacks solid fundamentals and plays a gimmick scheme. We have no linebackers. We have some excellent young players who previously weren’t getting the minutes. James Williams and Cam Kinchens are 2 stud freshman safeties and Leonard Taylor is a stud freshman DL. I think you guys win. There’s just a lot of toxicity now and that won’t change until the coach changes.

Absolutely correct. Was just poking a bit of fun at some of the comments on that “We’re In State’s Head” thread.

The truth is that I have a great deal of respect for Miami’s program, as does any State alumnus with sense. No one here is taking this game lightly. Across the board your players are in most cases more talented than ours. And we’re always worried about State doing its well known State thing and coming out flat/unprepared/idiotic.

I will say that with the exception of that massive farm fresh egg Doeren laid in Starkville, this year‘s team THUS FAR has had a TCOB attitude lacking in the past. Last week they kept their foot on BC’s throat and laid a big beat down in a game that was close at the half.

Short answer is I have no idea what happens tonight and would not be surprised by any results.

PS: Oh yes - I’m in Cary. Excellent call.

A few of our posters think more backwardly than the people they’re supposedly making fun of. It’s actually embarrassing for a good group of us who have lived and traveled to many places. NC has a mix of places and mindsets of people just like the state of Florida.

Doeren has done a nice job for you. If he had been our coach, with our talent, we never would’ve lost to those powder blue cucks in any of these recent years. That’s been our problem. Coaches doing less with more because they’re not good. Most of us are just hoping for a competent staff to be hired that can get us to at least play at our talent level.

Is Kevin Patrick still your DL coach? Great former Cane.

LOL @ North Carolina being even remotely backward or a redneck state.

The extremes of Florida are in a universe that North Carolina doesn't approach.

not precisely the same circumstances but we’ve said similar things about Doeren. His first year was a historic disaster. And the way his program fell apart in 2019 after Eli Drinkwitz departed raised serious questions as to whether the brains of the staff left with him. He also hung on far too long to a disastrously incompetent defensive coordinator in Dave Huxtable. At times, he has simply seemed lost.

While I appreciate your comments about the posters on that thread (which gave me the wrong impression about what seems a very good board), the one guy was quite right: the absolute cardinal sin at NC State is losing to the team you so rightly call the powder blue cucks. Mack Brown, who’s increasingly shown to be a witless geriatric for all his recruiting skills, has skull-dragged Doeren two years in a row. An NC State football coach can lose to Miami several years in a row, and State people (though we wouldn’t like it) would basically shrug. Lose to UNC several years in a row (Mike O’Cain) and the knives are out. Doeren himself has admitted that one victory over UNC basically saved his job.

End of the day, Doeren has been one of a long line of State coaches, all the way back to **** Sheridan in football and Les Robinson (bless his heart) in basketball, who are like Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates- you never know what you’re gonna get.

I will add something I just thought of: our two (now very old) national titles hang over our basketball program like a cloud. I’m old enough (54) to remember those Miami teams that basically owned the world, and later some very good ones (like the Butch Davis one with Edgerrin James (?) that prison raped us in a bowl game in 2001 or so). Having that past level of success makes things harder, I think, when fortunes change.

I’m 55 so we’re essentially the same age. I went to Canes games as a kid before we were good on season tickets as both of my parents and many in my family went to UM. My uncle had 10 seats on the 50 at a time when they literally gave away free tickets at Burger King with the purchase of a meal. I was there for the first Natty over Nebraska in the Orange Bowl and at 2 other Natty wins including the last one in the Rose Bowl for the 2001 team.

I know the older guys on this board like me, @423Hurricane, @Cajuncane and others will be here through good and bad. We’ve been fortunate enough to see the good times after years of being a jag program. This group of us just wants to see us be competitive and even respected again. We can’t buy the staffs and players like UGA and Bama do but we can do a lot better than we have. For years, we’ve seen guys like Frank Beamer with significantly less talent recruited - just own us because they’re fundamentally sound coaches. We need more of that and less jewelry on the field.

And as for UNC, they’ve really moved up the list for me as a despised team and fanbase. Obviously we don’t like FSU, the gaytor, Notre Dame and those teams but I think we all will be happy when we can put them back in their historical place.

Actually, I just remembered I was in the stands at Carter-Finley for what is still called “the Devin Hester game.” Lord have mercy. The worst memory is actually seeing T.A. McClendon fumble in the open field with nothing between him and the end zone but 25 yards of green grass. Miami recovered it, naturally

How about worst case scenario…
Canes play great. Dominate start to finish. 42-17 ish. Manny talks about how given a FG and a weird bounce we’d be 5-2 and the talk simmers.

There’s a part of me that thinks NC ST jumps out fast and dominates us. We basically quit and Manny is shown the door.

But the odds are, we will only play well for one half. If it’s the first, we lose MSU type of game. Close but gets away from us late. Or slow start and we play well in the second half to make it close but still losing.

All this to say 45-42 NCState.
Would be ecstatic to be wrong.
