Very few. Band was super loud but they didn’t have many there.

For all the talk about UCF and/or USF rising to the level of the Big 3, have any of y'all seen the slightest indicators that their fan bases are anything other than students and alumni?

People joke about T-shirt Canes or Noles or Gators, but those are the folks watching on TV and pumping up viewership numbers that the SEC, B1G and their media partners covet and which ultimately drive conference expansion

Not even a little bit.

****, the majority of their students and alumni are fans of UM, FSU, or UF instead. UCF has 70K+ students and, when designing their stadium, had to cut down the number of seats. They have never beaten us in attendance, not once, and their undergrad student body is larger than HRS.

why does UM even have a band - they do NOTHING at these games lol
I’m glad we have a band, and we should have a band. It’s part of college football and tradition. I just wish the band was bigger. And we have such an amazing music school, so I know we have more musicians, but I don’t know much at all about the music school and how this stuff works, so I won’t comment on why the band is so small. There’s probably someone on the board who is more familiar and in a better position to comment on this.

Agreed. It's consistently shrunk over the years, not really sure why but I'm sure there is a funding issue. These days it's looking really pathetic. Was jarring seeing them compared to the massive USF band.

Yeah, it definitely used to be bigger when I was a student, but that was almost 30 years ago now. 🤣

If it’s a funding issue, then I find that frustrating. The band is part of the football program. It should be appropriately funded. If they want the fans and crowd to be helping the team, then that have to realize the band is a huge part of what gets the crowd going in games. Look to FSU and LSU for examples.
