Thank you College Gameday

no idea how a private university can literally ignore immense revenue streams for decades from a brand with international appeal...
it's mind boggling in 2021 how inept this is...
This X infinity. For an admin that claims to care about money, they sure as **** don’t have a business model that reflects that. Amateurs.

Great stuff but we did have one coach who turned the program during NCAA restrictions and built one of the greatest teams ever. Maybe he is still the one to turn us around. Butch is just a year or two older then Mack Brown. I know, we had our chance and blew it, but if he could come in and groom a replacement I'd like to see that happen. Forget Mario, he'd be a fool to leave Oregon. I wonder if Butch is interested, for being 69 he looks great and Snyder coached until he was 74. It is getting into desperation time, after all he beat Manny. Thoughts????

I'm all onboard with Butch as an AD. It means absolutely NOTHING that he has no experience in that regard, God knows Blake James being the former head of ticket sales had no business even getting an interview.

We need someone that CARES about football in that AD seat. I'll gladly give Butch a shot at that role. As for coaching....just stop. We're way past that at this point.

Question for anyone here, was the OB situation avoidable or was the City of Miami-Dade **** bent on using it for another means?
A little of both. By the time it got to 2006, it was way too big of a project to fix it and some local politicians saw an opportunity to cash in as only Miami politicians can. But if things were done over the years, then it could have been maintained and avoided.

Why am I not shocked that our dumbass fanbase would buy poorly researched, poorly reasoned trash? Kirk Herbstreit played to the crowd, because it's easy and the narratives write themselves.

Despite him sitting next to Desmond Howard every week, a man that lives in South Florida(I used to see Des every week at the Wellness Center, he lived in Pinecrest back when I was in law school), he had the nerve to note that Miami plays off campus, as if that is an indictment of the University. Never mind the fact that in order for Miami to build a stadium anywhere near campus, they would have to spend hundreds of millions, if not BILLIONS. Yep, make that make sense, why Miami would spend that kind of money when they don't have to. What's funny is that Miami has played off campus for practically the entire history of the program, no one gave a **** when the program was winning.

The fact that our fans truly believe that a competent University President gives a **** about the football program is a joke, and further shows that our fanbase has never been on a typical college campus. Yes, at places like Alabama and Ohio State, that may be the case, but at a private institution, or a school worth a ****, that isn't the case. The athletic department is managed by the administrator in charge(AD) and overseen by the boosters/donors and the members of the governing board that have a passion for the department.

Then again, it's a lot easier to blame Frenk, than it is to point the finger at people like Lemonis and the rest of the BOT. They are the problem, alongside Blake James.

ESPN and they’re stake in ACC network spent a decent amount of resources making content about the U this year. They can’t be happy we suck.

And for the ACC network going forward you know they want and probably need FSU and Miami both to be where they’re supposed to be.
Didn't even think about it from that angle, but you are absolutely correct.

I still remember some elitist @$$hole that claimed that he sits on the BoT. He also claimed to be a lawyer. This was back when Folden was fired, and there were heavy rumors circulating that Butch would be hired.

That scumbag came on CiS and said that Butch would never, ever be considered for a job at the University of Miami ever again. He said that he and the rest of the BoT, Admin hated Butch. Dude was proud to be a part of the stink bomb that is our BoT, Admin and athletics department.

These are the type of jabronies that have run our once proud programs into the ground.
We also had people within in the athletic dept monitoring this forum/site. I don't recall if it was a student putting some hours in or not, but it was an extraordinarily embarrassing situation. Now, I'm sure the dept still does...but the individuals that are responsible for monitoring these fan sites and social media are 1) more disciplined and 2) don't particularly care.

Needless to say, this program has long been removed from competing for titles. It's a directional school without a direction.

Bear said basically our entire basketball team transferred out and even the cleanup hitter on the baseball team transferred to FSU. Said there’s something going on in Miami’s athletic program.
Actually, Bear straight up lied. Miami is returning most of their roster from last year, outside of a kid that was kicked off in the middle of the season(Matt Cross), a grad transfer(Brooks) and Chris Lykes(Who did transfer). They added three additional freshman guards AND a grad transfer. L is still short on bigs though.

Baseball, everyone is losing guys, even top end schools that have won. From an article

"And two traditional powers who played in the College World Series in June have been hammered by the portal. Arizona lost 14 via the portal, including star freshman Jacob Berry, who hit .352 with 17 home runs and moved on to LSU. National champion Mississippi State lost 12 to the portal."

But, let's not let facts and whatnot get in the way of a good rant.

Now that this is being given national attention, I'd love to see local media really dive into 'what's wrong with THE U'. There's clearly something up in the athletic department and, clearly, people care and want to see us successful.

Sadly, people love reading about general incompetence, especially from someone considered to be educated and elite. I don't think Barry would, as it would probably kill his access to anything UM, but maybe even an independent media association. It's going to be a disappointing season with more 'upsets'. There will be tons of opportunities to give this department the exposure it needs.
Agreed. I need to see every sports segment of every local news station down here replay that Herbie clip, regardless of how much we beat these bums by today.

A lot of fans rip on Kirk but he always seems to be pretty fair and somewhat rooting for us to be back.
I don't know why Kirk would get ripped. He's always rooted for the canes. He has openly said he wants the canes to be prominent again. He's one of the few national guys who has always backed Miami and I appreciate what he said today.

Okay but Miami chose to leave the Orange Bowl We were not evicted, we willingly chose to play that far away. I've heard the city was willing to renovate the OB, and I've heard that the city wanted to sale the OB to the school. Bottom line is, decision making on the part of Miami has been terrible and no one is held accountable.

Arizona’s coach went to LSU of course they’re gonna leave and some will follow him. Miss St lost guys bc they weren’t good enough to play. Stop comparing the dumpster fire led by a booster’s kid to programs that are winning.

I can’t believe you just said don’t let facts get in the way, then you mention Berry following his coach to LSU lmao. 90% of this board has no idea how bad of a spot the baseball team is in. If Gino doesnt then it around this year, it’ll turn into football.
