Texas now #7 in class ranking on ESPN. So even after one of the worst seasons in program history, Texas still is the state's top destination.

Wait til Charlie starts racking up the wins. They will dominate recruiting once again.

The question is not can he recruit, the question is can he coach?
No once-in-a-lifetime QB (TB) and he's a .500 coach, time will tell.

First year coaches generally get a pass

Saban went 7-6 his first year, and killed it in recruiting
Randy Shannon went 5-7 his first year and signed the top class in the country

Texas is also much closer to be nationally relevant recently than we have.

But he'll need to turn it around quick this year. Fan bases don't stay patient for very long

According to the Troll, this was F.A.G.'s first year. It doesn't look like he got a pass.

He is new to Texas so it is easier for him to recruit. Strong will be fired in 4 years after never winning the BIG 12.

You're comparing apples to oranges. I don't like AL Golden, but people are now just making threads to make them. As previously mentioned, this was Strong's first year. This is his first true recruiting class, Texas has better facilities, more money, a way better game atmosphere, and they don't have a fanbase begging for the coach to get fired.

I'm all about firing Golden, but I'm not about creating a bunch of useless threads.

And yes I know you are not directly comparing him to Golden, but you're definitely doing so implicitly.
