What have we gotten like 1 SoFla QB in the last like 20 years? Lol.
Yea we pretty much barely ever recruit the QBs down here lol..only reason they even entertained CJ Bailey last cycle was to get JJ smith we pretty much go out of state for our QBs

Texas and Cali are the Qb havens. Been true for decades. ****, just look at the Final 4 in the NFL.

Allen - Cali
Daniels - Cali
Hurts - Texas
Mahomes - Texas

Yes

They run College Offenses in Middle school/Little league Pop Warner ball, so by the time they get to College they're already 10 steps ahead.

There's 3 regions that have produced the most HS Coaches who have been hired as College OC's
- TX
- Arkansas
- Arizona
(Ohio produces a lot of Coaches as well, but mainly on Defense)

But in terms of Offensive innovation, you can literally find HS Coaches in the Southwest & hire them on College staffs & there won't be a drop off in knowledge or capability to Coach at the College level.

What that results in, is the QB's these guys Coach in HS come to College ready & prepared to play at a high level. Because they actually understand the verbiage & usually have the arm talent to make all the throws to any part of the field.

The heavy Baseball culture of the Southwest (TX in particular) plays a part as well.

Most TX QB's grow up playing Baseball & the early muscle activation in their arm & shoulders makes them much stronger throwers, who can usually change platforms & throw from multiple arm angles.
Those are all great points.

I know Texas HS football culture is probably as good as it gets in the country (or bad if you look at it the other way because of how obsessed they are with it) and then you add the massive talent pool they have and your bound to get some elite talent at QB.

I'm really curious how a state like Florida could end start to go about changing the narrative?

Why is that?

Same weather, same caliber of athletes from population.

Coaching ecosystem?

It's hard to develop HS QBs when you have a program with small coaching staff. I know in Florida you occasionally see a staff with 1 or 2 former college or NFL ballers, but it doesn't mean much if you don't have a deep and competent coaching starting from the 9th grade (if applicable) all the way through JV and varsity. Of course, money plays a role, but many focus on the beautiful Texas hs stadiums and facilities instead of the resources invested in coaching. I'm also willing to bet the Pop Warner teams feeding those schools have strong coaching staffs. In my youth I recall playing and coaching against many soFla Optimist teams that had some stud QBs, especially Richmond-Perrine and Northside teams, but they were really raw. What could've been if they had more extensive coaching (not railing on local coaches, they do the best they can with what they have to work with).

they have had 7 on 7 and personal qb coaches for decades longer than other states. So had/have the headstart in coaching /scheming / development and infrastructure. Still do....but others are playing catch up

See the minute 7 on 7 took off....the states of georgia and florida closed the gap quickly.
